Totally agree there pheonics. Your 100% right. And i'm sure if the train was going to run at a loss it wouldn't run at all. I'm driving up on Sat for 4-5 hours to ride 1 shuttle just to show my support for this hard working lot. Who have battled against all odds to get Steam up there

Cheers, That is pretty much correct. I will be traveling up on the Friday night (either by train, or by car at some point, mainly i want to hear it go up bank box at almost 12 midnight!). From either Melb - Ballarat i will travel on the train, or travel by car then for the latter leg journey if not then i will travel by train, get off the train at the start of the bike race & chase it into Wycheproof so i can see it arriving through the main street. Very Happy

I can only say " Good luck" to the Steamrail people. I sincerely hope it all goes well.
I speak as a former volunteer on steam in Victoria, with more than one Group, and I can only admire those who keep at it.
I finally cried "Enough" when a combination of factors, including advanced years, frustration at official indifference and/or obstructionism, and other personal issues, finally took over.
I agree with many previous comments on this thread; don't bother posting unless you have something constructive and practical to say.

It never got put on the train. Apparently it's stabled up at Cope Cope on the ballast train.

To clarify both these statements, originally 313 was to run on this trip but it was unable to be transfered back from Donald, where it has been operating from this week.
S301 was substituted at the last minute but given the loco hasn't run in around 12 months there were concerns about its reliability first trip out. S313 was left on the circular so that in the event of a failure it could have been substituted, depending on where it was stabled over the weekend.

Hi all.

Got back from Wycheproof about an hour and a bit ago.

Had a great day chasing the train, and got some really good footage and pictures. I will upload some movies to youtube when i have sorted them out, i took 312 pics so quiet a lot for the day.

Further to my last post.

When i left, R761 was with T356 and the coal wagon in the siding, and the train was in front of it with S301 hostlers end leading towards G.E.B Siding. The trains leaving tomorrow at 1pm from Wycheproof.

When i arrived back in Melbourne a friend told me Y145 ran light engine from Maryborough or somewhere and is running back with it? Is Y145 going to help S301 on the trip back or not??

I hope to see it at Melton and chase it in to town tomorrow night. Very Happy
