Hi Wired, well done with the new camera. Just some ideas - be careful of lighting (use the sun to your advantage or try the flash or a higher ISO in darker situations) and make sure the picture is framed correctly (in respect to horizon) unless you are going for an 'arty' look! Have fun!

Another tip, never ever use flash around the railways - a flash into a drivers cab could be all he needs to loose concentration, most likely nothing will happen but things could.

Yep, flash is prohibited at Southern cross anyway.

I would suggest varying your photo spots to get differing scenery, as opposed to taking all your shots at the same locations.
Good luck!

They actually aren't in the same location, heh.. They are taken over about 4 platforms, and down under for the V/Line.
But I don't see how flash can cause much trouble either.

Welcome to Railpage Australia™, Excellant photos WiRED, just a tip maybe try taking photos of the entire train maybe from a bridge or level crossing.
What sort of camera do you have?

You aren't going to get significantly different scenery taking photos on four different platforms of the same station
I suggest finding out what some of the good photography spots are from posts on here and trying them. Depending on what you are interested in photographing (like suburban EMUs for example), there are some good spots that can be found which are seldom used.
