Hey everyone
I just bought a brand new (v/line) X class. What I am about to write I don't mean to upset or stir up anything. Has anyone, who owns one of these had any (and I say delicately) quality issues with the detail. The loco numbers on the cab are crooked and you can see glue residue around them, some of the handrails were bent and twisted and the paint on the body seems a little faded on one side. I was just wondering if there was a batch that had some minor defects in the detail area. This has not put me off the loco or the producing company, but I am a little curious if others have had a similar problem. But like I said this is NOT an angry or upset customer, just wondering.....
Other then that great running loco!!

On the whole, that seems like an unacceptable model. I would return it to the place of purchase immediately and ask for a replacement or refund.

I haven't seen these problems on any of my X classes. If you purchased it from Austrains, I would be enquiring if you can get a replacement (assuming he has any left of the one you purchased).

I got three opinions on the paint work and i think it was the light on the model... Bit of a relief on that!!!! As for the number I have someone who will straighten it for me.. But still interested if others have had the same problem...

The problems you describe sound like that model was in a window display of some sort, the deformed handrails and faded paint are ready indicators of this sort of thing.

This could be the last model this particular shop etc had, and was just getting rid of one that could not be sent back to the manufacturer, so it was sold off to cover the shop owners problem!

Check all models that come out of window displays, before you buy it at the shop, the sun and light can play havoc with models that are in window's! Cool

According to the latest Austrains newsletter John Eassie has no X class at all left! Replacement would now be a problem i think

To be honest, why would you send an otherwise perfectly fine model back for something as simple as this? Just glue it back onto the side of the cab and it would look no different from any other X. (Yes I have done this on an Austrains model. The number plate had fallen off my H when I took it out of the box)
