CLF6 leading NR75 on the Ghan at Weddal from a few weeks ago.
FQ04 on her first run south from Darwin after returning to service, ironically, it's first run from Darwin was on 6DA2, the same train number that saw it taken out of service for 10 months.
VL's 351 and 352 at work in the top end.
More pictures can be found in my Trains in the Darwin Area section of the banner below.

hi all, uploaded some pics of trains i have got in the top end over
the past couple of weeks...
also noticed yesterday ALF24 and a VL coupled up on a ore train,
stabled in Berrimah Yard.... is this a usual thing, VL's and ALF's being
mixed and matched on the ore trains?

cheers

The VL with the ALF would be VL353, it was used on the Muckerty Ore for about a week while ALF18 went south for repairs. The plan is for VL's to be on both ore trains out of Darwin.

This is the first time I have looked at this thread.
Great photos.
Do you have any more?

Some things of intrest in Darwin today.
I rocked up at the Berrimah Rd at around 10am to find FQ04 and ALF20 just about ready to go with 2DA2 in the departures road. SCT003 and CC off 5AD1, that should have went out as 1DA2, were in the arrivals road, facing east (ready to head south), but did not go out due to the 2 engine policy, I belive 5AD1 gave up a ALF in Katherine as there were problems with a few of the loco's on 7DA2. The Union Reef Ore was at the unloader with a pair of VL's. There was one train missing 7AD1 was not to be found. I caught the EDI guys near the station, looks like 7AD1 is broken somewhere and the fitter from Alice Springs is attending to it, but they did not know where it is broken. When 2DA2 gets to where it is it might be lending a loco to it, as a result, 2DA2 is a fairly short train and lightly loaded, about 1km in length.
Boss, click on my banner below for more of my photo's.

SCT003 is overnighting at Berrimah with an unknown ALF. They came in on 5AD1 and will go out in 1DA2, I belive it gets away about 10am.

Been on for a couple of months now for the AD1/DA2 services, the CLF/CLPs aren't that common on the services now and loco shortages (todays 6DA2 was 2xALFs), maybe trialling a new loco design to supplement the loco pool or maybe its something for the gunzels to get excited about

FQ's 01, 02 and 03 are going through overhauls, I belive 01 and 02 are done and 03 is in the shops now. 04 was overhauled while in reciving smash repairs. Due to this they needed an extra high HP loco. SCT currently has a few spare. So FL has SCT003 on hire.
On top of that, GWA crews, who drive SCT and FL trains are already quailfied or are being trained on the SCT. I also belive GWA are getting some new loco's too, simular to the SCT class.

I enjoyed all of those photos. My wife & myself will be visiting Darwin next March, arriving via The Ghan. We will then be driving home via Mount Isa, Barcaldine & Bourke.
I now know what to expect in the way of trains. Can any of you guys give me any details on what frequencies I should use in my scanner while I am up there.
Alf
