Here is a image when it was at Lithgows Mines.. and it is now located at Newcastle under restoration.

Has anything happened since Bathurst council threw $250,000 at the project?

Yes.

The boiler has been taken to Victoria to be used in the conversion of a K class to standard gauge. The K boiler will be modified to replace the boiler on 5112.

The K class is expected to be running in June 2015.

And the wheels are going to be used to gauge convert the front engine unit of the Zig Zag's Garratt to standard gauge.

Not forgetting the back unit of the Garratt will be turned into a tank engine with 5112's tender being used for extra water and coal.

Woa!!!

....Grantham finally says something of use beside harassing and being critical of fellow train enthusiasts!!! Guess pigs must be flying now.

Where will this chance of his manners go i wonder.. has he finally got some useful to show?.

Seems Grantham has more connections and knowledge of all things rolling so why stand there and be quiet.. ??

If you so cluey, tell us more in these forums about NSWGR rather than harassing people WHO are new and wish to learn.

I bet no one harassed you when you where learning on these forums did they? If so why did they?

Seriously, everybody, does anybody know what is going on with 5112?

If you don't know (or don't even care), just say so.

Its gone into a black-hole, we were told to ring the number on the fence, the fence that not all of us can go and visit to actually get the number...

People asked if the number could be provided, they rang it and got no info.

The above is what I have been told by people who have tried to ring, but don't take it as gospel as its probably 3rd hand info of sorts. None-the-less, no-one seems to know anything from past threads.

I would gladly be proved wrong however. Bathurst Council seem to have much confidence in the project being finished within the next year or so from my communications with them however. Wink

Here is a downdate. At Port Waratah 5112 has brought in a train of non-air hoppers of coal and is being serviced prior to another task or going to the roundhouse. Sometime in 1972.

Thank you, Flathog - at least that gives us some idea as to what's doing...

IF - as oldrailfan suggested at the start of this thread, 5112's gone to Newcastle, could that mean HVTC?

PS: Superb photos, GrahamH.
