It's not Huntingdale.
As this quiz seems to have taken a stall I'll give a throwaway clue;
<station> was built on an already open and operating line. This occurred before electrification.
At the time of my opening, the two stations on either side were more than a kilometre away. However, this is no longer the case.
This station remains open to this day, but under a different name.
I was renamed after electrification.
I am on the Northern Group.
There is only one station that meets the clues. Which one is it?
Reliable, Economical, Safe, By Rail.

Yes, it's Strathmore, formerly North Essendon.

While the line was built from Essendon to Seymour in 1874, North Essendon station was not built until 1890. Electric service commenced in the 1921.

When North Essendon was opened in 1890, the two stations on either side; Essendon and Pascoe Vale, were both more than a kilometre from North Essendon. This has not been the case since 1922, when Glenbervie opened, 600m away.

North Essendon was renamed Strathmore in 1955.

1955 is after 1921... I think...

I don't have the encylopaedic knowledge of many of you, so I think this will go very quickly.

When you 'was', I am assuming the said station no longer exists? if that is the case, then I will say White City?

Not Upper Ferntree Gully, Ferntree Gully, Lyndhurst, Brooklyn , Albion, White City, Coldstream or Williamstown.
The station still exists and is in everyday use, but the plant has gone.
The plant was immediately adjacent to the down platform and station building.
I'll leave it at that for the time being; there will be more hints if they are needed.
