due to me being a relitive newbe to this whole rail thing & being always shot down for most of my open constructive imput but could someone please clear my total lack of all things rail i was lead to believe that when the RTA(or who ever) did the Mittagong bypass they just mowed over the loop line near where it joins the main south line(just north of M/gong)if this is not correct why does the RTM not go down south this way instead of backtracking to picton( i know the line needs track work of course).Could someone give me an open answer to these ? without the usual B....S..T this will make it more pleasent to be on R/Page and when i post comments in the future people won't treat me as a total D...H..d

The Hume Highway passes over the Loop Line on a bridge.

There's a bridge missing near Braemar which is why RTM cannot go 'that way'.

People who talk out their asre usually have bad breath.

Thanks Drwaddles i knew i was correct in that the line was cut just north of M/gong maybe the knockers from the other locked thread should get their facts straight before shooting a newbe down in flames and making them feel unwelcome on this site

Perhaps if you stopped acting like a twat, and then people might be a bit receptive to your queries.

Got manners? Use them!

Does anyone have photos of where the line is cut. I believe that it's cut in two locations.

Read the last line of your first post again, son. Then read your reply to "drwaddles". Not exactly the best of things to write.

People are more than happy to help you if you leave rubbish like that out of your posts. According to your profile, you joined on Novemeber 7th 2007, and have the rank of "Locomotive Fireman". You are hardly a "newbie", and should be well aware of how the forums operate by now. Shocked

The main problem is at the Braemar trestle bridge

Level crossings have been tarred over at Colo Vale and I think Hilltop.

Diddn't it have something to do with a farmer not wanting them to go pass cause it would scare his cattle/sheep which hang around near the line ?

Thanks "man in blue" to that thread it has cleared up the wrong info i had been given that the line had been cut by the bypass(a friend who lives down that way gave info that there was NO underpass) & thus the flack recieved over some harshly worded posts of mine (it's been one of those days)As for being a relitive newbe that is in relation to the whole rail structure thing and not to Railpage Australia™ itself(am a now disabled motor mechanic with an ever growing intrest in old railways) i hope this clears up the missconceptions i was trying to convay
