Sighted on Down Main near Croydon at approx. 1140 Thursday 4/12/2008 was 45(?)XX hauling several single deck suburban cars including C3045, C3102, C3444 (blue and white!), C3104, loco 4918 at rear. Does anyone knows where these cars were being taken? Are they part of the surplus heritage stock disposal process?

The cars that should have been on the train are C3082, C3104 and C3444. Ther may have been a loco hauled car as well. These 3 cars were allocated to the Sydney Electric Train Society through the Railcorp disposal process and are heading for a private property with undercover storage.

C3045 should still be at Thirlmere but may be coming to Sydney at some stage.
C3102 should still be at Redfern. (I'll take a look when i am there on Sunday.)

Thanks for that info Steven. I was on a train passing it going to the City. I saw the Bradfield car so thought it was C3045 - I'd forgotten about C3082! Embarassed

There was one loco hauled car, namely what looks to be a HLV/HLX of GLV/GLX. Also, the consist is C3082, C3444, C3104 and a louvre van.
Could anyone please tell me why C3104 is fitted with the original style of motor bogie. I've seen a photo of the car at Clyde after an overhaul, taken on 22/10/87 and it appears to be fitted with the later cast steel? motor bogie. Confused

A search in RailCorp TOC waivers the other day and I found these:

From that we get:
C3082 - Single deck wide electric car
C3444 - Single deck wide electric car
C3104 - Single deck wide electric car
FAM 2386 - Twinette sleeper car
NLJX 33806 - Louvre van which is destined for Tamworth

EDIT: Just came in to remove the links myself.

Bogies were changed al the time in service at maintenance centres. 3104 had a A type when it was retired and has retained it, simple.

3444 also has an A type under it which is in excellent condition and was intended as a replacement for 3102. Obviously thats now out the window. The three only reasonable examples of A types have now been handed from Railcorp to SETS. Hmm.

Sleeper Car FAM 2386 found its way to Swanbank, QLD today aboard a truck. It was being delivered to the Bill Everist Complex Rwy Museum.
