Hi all,
I live in Grafton NSW and the local people have been so generous in donating to the Fire Victims in Victoria.
We now have so many donations to take down to Victoria, it simply is a logistical nightmare so last night I wrote to Pacific National asking for some support from them in getting our donations from Casion and Grafton down to Victoria.
We have everything from full tables and chairs through to tonnes and tonnes of fodder for the farmers.
Does anyone remember the train that Angry Anderson organised in the 90's from Victoria to NSW full of fodder four our animals?
I really hope Pacific National come to the party and indications this morning seem to be very positive.
Could someone please tell me what those long Ex AN wagons are with semi sides?
Fingers crossed.
Dave

Sell the stuff on Ebay and send the money to the Red Cross appeal. Seriously, they need cash now, not people's second hand junk.

Thanks for your reply.
We actually our community has dug deep and sent thousands upon thousands of dollars down to Victoria.
The goods we have are not "junk". They are brand new toys from local companys, 99% of our donations are brand new.
The majority of the haulage is Food for the animals. So hope that answers your question.

I didn't ask a question. Good luck sending your stuff. I just hope it gets to where it needs to go, and doesn't create more logistical problems than it solves.

I am aware of a large number if semi's carting fodder from WA to Vic. Could this have been put on rail to assist in getting the fodder to Vic faster? Would also have been cheaper I suspect?
Let's hope PN can provide some assistance, although they appear to have been slow on the uptake thus far.

The North East Standard Gauge works have done very little for the prospct of more freight out of Albury and Surrounds.

Still waiting to hear from Pacific National.
Recieved a email from ARG & Interail asking to contact them so we may have some movement.
Fingers crossed that the good people can help.

Both Pacific National and Interail came to the party.
Interail run the first loading that left week bound for Melbourne with thousands of Toys from the Variety Club of the Clarence Valley.
The second train provided by Pacific National will depart Grafton tomorrow morning at 2.20am and head for Melbourne loaded with Hay, Donations of all forms and Books for Marysville School.
Cheers to both of these operators for their endless support and the provision of wagons to transport everything down to Victoria.

Nice work on getting all this smeg together and getting everything organised.
Is there really two whole trains worth of stuff or is it just a few wagons put on two trains that were already running?

Not sure how much was loading QRN took but wouldn't have been any more then a few wagons. There were 2 wagons placed for loading of hay and whatever other assortments were suitable for placing in open wagons, but AFAIK, they haven't filled one yet and both are still sitting in 4 raod of the UP yard in Grafton. BW4 doesn't run tonight so they won't be going anywhere until 26/02 at the earliest.

On the topic of PN donations, it was announced that for every dollar contributed by PN employees, PN will match it, until the end of Feb.
Dunno how much they've raised so far, but chip in if you work for PN. Better to do it through the company than straight to the Red Cross, twice as helpful.

Sure do mate. Two in the signon room and some upstairs too. Actuallly got it by email week before last, before they put up the posters. I'm locked out of the intreanet now or I'd see if they sent it to "All Pacific National" or "All HBT"...
I'm led to believe it is a company-wide effort, but it may just be a HBT thing. If you can spare a few bob, might pay to ask around while there's stil a few days left in February.
EDIT: Just had a sudden thought...Given the share price, don't contribute too much. We might send the bloody company bankrupt
