"QRFan"

Late 1992 and early 1993 IIRC when there was a huge timetable change, due to QR was trying to save $, and the factory nearby was about to close.

It was closed in early 93 for the above reasons. The factory closing. It was only long enough for a 3 car EMU. From memory only 1 - 2 trains a day stopped. Plus with no residentual estates there, it's not like anyone would still use the station

cheers

it's completely gone... any remnants went when the track was realigned. It was only the length of 4 EMU cars, double platform, and a bridge form memory.

Sorry, I don't have a street directory on me and not a Brisbane boy.
What line was it on and where abouts?

Thanks

Cleveland line, between Murrarie and Hemmant. Adjacent to the Darling Downs Co-op Bacon Company.

If you are heading city bound out of hemmant, the train will pass over the river, aftre about 1km it will slow to 60 for a sharp turn, here is where the stationused to be.

20 years, mate, time to renew  Smile

Also, for nostalgia as well, look up Glocester(spelling?) St Station, this was inbetween Vulture st and Park road station, on the Cleveleand / Beenleigh lines. However this was closed down way earlier... in maybe the 60's 70's not to sure.

Heading towars Cleveland, as you exit the long tunnel it was about 100 - 200 metres form there, maybe, i wasnt around at this time. (Born 1980)

Gloucester St, and Holmview mk1 closed at the time ove the Merivale Bridge opening - 18/11/1978. For cost cutting and the fact that the platforms were too short and low for the Northside's 16X7 car SX sets

Don't forget Nyanda, which also closed around that time.  It is the grassy low level platform half way between Rocklea and Salisbury, under the Beaudesert Rd flyover.  The high school at Salisbury has been renamed Nyanda High.

I though gloucester st closed due to proximity to vulture st & usage issues.

Have posted air photo of area in- http://www.railpage.com.au/modules.php?set_albumName=album56&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php

Doboy station appeares in the center right of the image, below the U shaped section of bulimba creek. Please reference the source of the airphoto (Sunmap, Queensland) if anyone intends to post it elsewere! Enjoy!

Cheers for that, im guessing this photo was taken as the track relcotaion was being constructed... guessing by the look of the colour either side of the track where former doboy was and the creek.

yeh id say this is probably one of the last images with the station, platforms and factory all still standing! sorry about the quality, on the original film image you could probably see individual sleepers on the rails!

Ive got an 1981 1:1500ish scale aerial orthophoto in black and white on paper. I think there is also a 196? photo in Destination south brisbane showing  double-header tank engines hauling evans cars (?) through the station, i dont have the book myself, not many copies are floating around these days!

It only has the Nyanda Station on it.
There is a bridge across the river into roma St.

The reason we keep it is for the historical value - it shows what brissie was like a long time ago.

yeah that whole section of track has changed... with the removal of the station, and the track realignment, and also the new bridge over the creek.. there are a few bridges that have been replaced on the cleveland line in the last 10 years

Reading through all the past posts brings back memories of when South Brisbane was the terminus for the South Side Suburbans - those were the days when being a Train Controller in Brisbane was great as compared to today. Whip
