    But it doesn't cover ALL of Victoria (leaving out some regional bus services) whereas it does cover all of Melbourne Suburban (except Skybus - for the time being).

    On that thinking, shouldn't the hitachi and "where is it" threads also be branched off as well? They're both very popular, though perhaps not as intensely topical right now.

    Thanks for the reminder; the Hitachi sightings thread is horrendously long.  Whereizzit and Archeology are the other culprits.

    Who gives a kahootz where it belongs, the old Myki thread was in Suburban so it'd be easier to keep them together.

    I must have missed something somewhere not have the interwebs for the last few weeks. But I picked up a Sun the other day and heard Myki was introduced, but only on trains (V/Line or Metro or both?) and is still bug ridden. So what's actually going on? I take the papers word with a grain of salt.

    Oh and I ordered a Myki back in August and still haven't got it. What's going on there?

    Seriously though, Myki has been up and running in regional areas for quite a while now on buses; it is not exclusively a metropolitan ticketing system. I will suggest that Melburnians, once again, think that Victoria ends at the extremities of Zone 2.

    This thread will belong where it belongs and I don't really care either way, but putting it in the Melbourne Suburban forum shows a typical attitude IMHO.

    Is it really that big of an issue? I presume having it in the Melbourne suburban section is much more convenient for the majority of visitors and members on this site. It makes sense to have it where it is. The Myki thread is currently and has been one of the most popular for some time. Making everyone all of a sudden start having to go into the Victorian section doesn't really make sense.

    Shouldn't the old threads be locked to prevent further posting? As there is already several posts after this new thread was made. Also the thread is in suburban because thats where it was originally created, no one complained about it in the previous 270+ pages of discussion so there can be too much of a problem with it.

    There some railway stations on Melbourne train network that do not have top up machines so allows users to top up their myki cards and so for example if they run out of credit and need top up at Heidelberg Railway station, they can’t do so because of no MYKI machine located at the station .     There are a few locations, which is quite unfortunate. The current metcard machines are in the only spot suitable for the Myki machine. Sandringham is another such example.

    My understanding no they can't top up at counter yet.

    other MYKI news, I got told Trams and Bus in Melbourne may be working in week time. (infomation from call centre).

    No, of course not (see above). It's just that Myki is, allegedly, a Victoria-wide ticketing system, but a lot of Melburnians think Myki belongs to them exclusively. But hey, who am I to argue their ignorance? Wink

    Is this actually true? That the whole thread is loaded into server memory whenever somebody views it? That's a pretty ordinary way of coding forums if that's the case - certainly not the way I would have designed things.  It sounds like a likely story to me...

    I believe that is the way this site is coded but to have the entire thing crash for three days because it can't cope with 270 pages seems unusual.

    The Useless Post thread got closed at something like 1450 pages and, while that did take a bit of oomph to load, it did so pretty well instantaneously.

    Waiting for an Admin decision .....
