I wouldnt have thought there was much demand for avgas at Tullamarine airport.
I suppose the difference is like unleaded and diesel to an Eskimo?
Who cares if you don't use it.
In all the government reports it seems to be called Aviation fuel. How would the average joe, know the difference between avgas and avtur, and even then what difference to does it make to the thread? Apart from some getting a kick out of knowing a little more than the next
Anyway unless the real answers, rather than some guesses are found from the 70's I am out of here
Ok lot of stuff has been found and Marcus will upload it to his web page. For those who are members, and interested check out VicRail- News

Although Somerton did not get upgraded, All 100+ VR tankers were put through Bendigo depot, and upgraded. In most cases the tanks were reconditioned, and placed on new frames, reclaimed from louvre vans then being scrapped. Fitted with new bogies and reclassified to operate at 80 KPH. It appears that NSW actually ran these bulk trains, as the $18 million spent by the Oil Companies reorganising fuel to rail, was Australia wide.
