Hey all,
I have 2 questions:
The first is about cab passes, i was at lilydale station and asked the driver how i could get a cab ride. He said,"Check the connex website for the cab pass form" i did and there is none. So does anyone know where i can get one?
And the second,
I wanna get a job in rail, and the people at my school are old and dont know much about that industry, im 18 and in year 12 and in all the books i look in there isnt that much about rail jobs. I was just asking what types of jobs are avail and what courses you can do etc.
Thanks
Matt!!
Cheers,
Matty!!

It all depends on what sort of job you are looking for, what interests you?

There are a number of opportunities......Driver being the most popular
But there are other jobs that are available, for example:
1.) Track Gang, Looking after the track is an important job (Schooling is
required)
2.) Signal Tech, Keeping the signalling working is another important job
(Some knowledge of electrical systems would be handy) (Schooling is
required)
3.) Signal Adjuster, He looks after all the mechanical systems, but they
are being phased out so its not a good idea
4.) Signalman, What about having the power to control the trains, much
like that in a model railway (Schooling Required)
5.) Station Staff, Not a very interesting job, more like an office job
6.) Conductor, Not sure if schooling is required but i assume it would
7.) Shunter, Interesting but dangerous job. (Schooling Required)
There are others but they are the main ones
EDIT: I forgot about the patrolman, patrolling the tracks on a hi-rail is interesting, but there is alot to learn with that.

That's if you don't get cleaned up by a train coming up your rear end first, if your not meant to be there in the first place.
