"Sir Thomas Bent"

That would be correct!  Embarassed Thanks for that.

I didn't have the longer lens on today, couldn't really zoom in too close, nor see the number on the side clearly enough.

Spotted a Ballast Regulator and Tampering Machine in the Briquette siding around Midday today
"speedemon08"

These have been calling Warragul their home over the last couple of weeks. I would assume that the works are now closer to Morwell than Warragul.
"jakar"

It seems they are Just past Moe on the track works. They've laid out numerous sleepers along Hernes Oak.
  S_class Locomotive Fireman

The Kensington grain ex the arrivals yard didn't arrive into the siding until 1430 with H1 leading BL32.

Also a late running BM7 was through Albion at 1700 with LDP-X54-X53-LDP.

"Polar Tiger"

I really don't get how I could have just moved out of up the road in Felmington after a year and the only time I have seen the grain movements was from the window of a passing comeng.

nice shot btw

The Kensington grain usually only runs on Mon/Wed/Fri, normally it arrives into the siding at daybreak and departs sometime around 1400-1530.
I understand that if a path can't be obtained prior to 1530 it has to wait until after the PM peak i.e. 1830.
I was lucky to score the H-BL combo at Kensington, I just happened to go past North Melbourne on a Werribee bound spark when I spotted the train stationary behind platform 6 waiting at the home signal to access the Coburg goods line, I bailed out of the spark at South Kensington and ran to Kensington Station not really knowing whether I'd make it or not. Luckily Metro were running a few sparks out to the Showgrounds that afternoon which delayed the grain transfer a little, I probably waited about 20 mins for it to show up.

Just back from gunzelling K153 leading the transfer back to Newport, via Melton. The T on the back was certainly putting in it's fair share of work, too.

Late by around 4 minutes, through at around 2208, probably on account of the preceding Up Vlo being late.

Spotted the apex quarry train stabled in the arrivals yard this evening with an X-A-X combo facing west. The rear unit appeared to be X49 which hasn't had a run in ages.

Another X-A-X combo?... PN seem to be having several Triple loco consist's lately

Oh, and I can confirm it was X42, A71 and X37 on Maryvale paper train today. Its amazing that X37 still has its Freight Victoria Logo

Probably not the most orthodox sighting, but still an interesting one for VR collectors.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/C-Class-Locomotive-5-Chime-Horn-/140443563647?pt=AU_Transportation_Collectables

If I was to offer a guess as to which loco the horn was originally bolted to, I would assume either C502 or C503, both of which had Nathan P5's fitted when refurbished for CFCLA.

If only I had the money for my favourite loco horn... Sad

Loco's were X44-A85-X49. I understand X49 was under test after receiving bogies from S306.

That's odd because the Leslie 5 Chime horn is more expensive than the Nathan P5's hence why C502 and C503 received P5's because their original horns were stolen whilst stored up in Broken Hill.

"Clyde_AT26HC-2M"

I didn't know that... interesting.  Are there any other C-class with Nathan's fitted?  I'm only aware of C502 and 503 from the most recent pics I've been able to find.

Also looking at the seller's pics, the frame of the horns appears to be in a grubby V/Line blue... and C's were not painted that colour.  Could possibly be off an N-class?  I've seen one video of an N with a Nathan P5...
  Polar Tiger Chief Commissioner

Location: FL390
Surely the blue paint work would be from the VR era, they were later painted grey for V/Line. Unlikely they're from an N class as their trumpets are arranged differently (3 large over two small). IIRC Only A's, C's and S307/S317 had the two small trumpets over the three large ones.

Yeah I just realised, could very well be VR blue, or CFCLA blue, or Silverton blue...  LaughingEmbarassed

And you're spot on about the N's Leslie horns.  Confucius say: do your research before preaching your thoughts!

I don't think it's Silverton blue as it was a lot lighter and the current blue/yellow livery on the C classes have black on the nose with the horns being black or blue depending on where they were painted (Adelaide or Melbourne). Just going by the photo is definitely VR coloured!

The Down Long Island with XR551-BL29 was sighted through Caulfield at 1608 last Sunday, rather unusual timing?

And that can be light-engine or with an empty rake. I can never tell what I expect to see.

Meanwhile for obtaining timings, I have no idea... I know I just have to get to Nth Melbourne by 1030.

Also, there was an NR shunting the SG steel wagons last night in the steel yard at Nth Melbourne at around 7pm.

Oh, okay.  I've flicked through the ARTC, Vline and Metro, but no result

Paper Train today had X49, A71, and X37
