HI all,

With the relocation of the park, what happened to all the track and rolling stock there? It was a fairly big set up so I was wondering where it all ended up.

Cheers

Cris

Hmm ok. There is just no mention of the railway on the website.

Is it stored, or being put back in use ?

G'day all,

I am pleased to announce that today the Cohuna gang laid in the final length of track to complete the main line.

A successful test run around the entire track followed.  Ballasting of the final section is yet to take place and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

I'm sure everyone will agree in congratulating the guys for a job well done.  I (and many others I'm sure) look forward to taking a drive around the track.  Best of luck for the future guys.

I am trying to compile some information on the old site for Cohunu, can anyone give me any details and perhaps map reference to where the old site was?

Not a map reference, but it was Mills Road East in Gosnells...

Does any know what ever happened to the X class that was privately owned and used to run a Cohuna - it was a nice loco.

x class? at cohunu? it must have been a loooooooong time ago...

as far as i know, theres only ever been one 7 1/4" guage x class built and that has been at the now closed whistle stop in bussleton for over 20 years...

"d1565"

probably was 20 years ago, it was owned by the late Les Whiteside and was based at Cohunu....
I would love to get my hands on it.....as would alot of people...
Do you have a photo of it?
  d1565 Deputy Commissioner

ahh yes. right the same engine then.. it is the one now at whistle stop, and no it wont be sold.... many have tried.....

The other one is a 7 1/4" guage coffee pot in the hands of a well known local garden railway enthusiast.. not seen for 30 years or more... again, many have tried but not for sale..

i am however hopefull we can negotiate a static display of it in the future at the railway...

But i digress, and my apologies for that...
  Bulbous Assistant Commissioner

To digress some more, what has happened to Whistle Stop in Busselton? I was going to drop through there soon and check it out, but got told they were now closed?

It was always packed when I was younger, I loved hanging out there for the day......

Whistle stop shut down basically as soon as 911 happened and the PLI costs went through the roof. the track and facilities are still there and used occasionally but only for private use now not public.

Whistlestop was great.  Last time I was there, there was DL class running.  I'll have to visit Cohuna in its new spot and check it out.  I never did go to the old location.

PLI has killed another innocent victim.  Any arm chair laywers want to explain why places like this can't have a system where you sign a form that says something along the lines of 'All care taken, but you are responsible for your own safety?" Why am I not allowed to take responsiblility for my own actions?

Probably because that could be construed as a common sense approach.

Imagine the very idea of people being able to think for themselves in the post 9/11 world. Rolling Eyes
