Do we know if those trams still have that orange fencing around them?

I think the concrete blocks they put them on look a bit unsightly and could have opted for something else, as well the blocks are too high unless they plan to build somekind of step to get into them, and will they be wheelchair accesible?

Are you serious?

Also what they did with the lights looks a bit dodgy too, but i know what else they could have done.

Why don't you go and do it, then?

Plus, why only 2? why cant they have a few more of them, but i guess 2 are better than 1.

No, wooden steps have been installed and the 1 foot gap where the bogeys once were has been boarded up. Looking good

Since the parks take over by the MMTB, actually. The first were cable tram bodies.

Well, didn't take long. Rolling Eyes

First Graffiti attack has resulted in one tram (the nearest to Riversdale Rd) being 'muraled' on one side.

Well i thought it would get done over a lot sooner than now, but with it's anti-graffiti paint, it shouldnt be too hard to clean.

Replacement tram at Wattle Park hit by vandals
12Sep07

Resident Doris Backman is upset one of the new W-class trams in Wattle Park has been vandalised.

JUST two weeks after two heritage W-class trams were set down at their new home in Wattle Park, vandals have sprayed graffiti on both sides of one of the trams.

Nearby resident Doris Backman, 81, said she was "disgusted" after park rangers drew her attention to the vandalism.

"I knew it would happen. I don't know what enjoyment the graffiti artists get out of it," Mrs Backman said.

"I just didn't expect it to happen so soon."

Mrs Backman is a keen photographer and regularly walks through the park with her dog, Misty.

"The anti-graffiti paint that was used on the trams just means that it's easier to clean off," Mrs Backman said.

"But that doesn't take into account the labour hours involved for rangers to clean it all off."

Mrs Backman was one of the key instigators behind a book published on the park. She said the lack of a curator contributed to the problem.

"There's no one there to look after the park," Mrs Backman said. "I know police and some security companies patrol past the park, but they can't be there every minute of every day."

Burwood police said anti-social behaviour in the park occurred "from time to time", but was more common over the summer months.

I think it's 885 which is the one parked closest to Riversdale Rd, the other one is 936.

MelbourneCity's prediction in 2007 was correct after all. RIP SW6 885.

Is there any reason why they do not have video surveillance in this area? It might be a dead area with nothing to do after dark, but CCTV systems aren't just made for safety alone.

The burning of these trams was broadcasted this morning on 3AW.
