Discussion about the Non-Airconditioned Suburban Silver L & R, S Trainsets
OLD POST:
On Monday I went to C-Town Station to view the trains going past The first train I saw was R13. Can I ask why it was running in off peak when there was a Tangara 2 M Sets and 1 A set stabled at C-Town station (close to station not the stabling closer to MacArthur) Even though you wouldent be able to fill an 8-car set in off peak but wouldent you rather have an air conditioned train?! Though it terminated with REVESBY on desto Then changed Museum Via Granville?

Also Im sure there was another R set cause when I got down off the station a Silver set came in on different platform and it didn't look like 8 car as it didn't fully fit the station and was smaller

Because generally all types of sets are rostered all day - they don't specifically roster some types of trains to be peak hour only.

OMFGzor!!!!!!1111111oneoneoneeleventyone
Seriously, as thedocta said all types of sets are rostered throughout the day. Why wouldn't they use R sets also - off peak means less passengers to carry.

I understood all R sets had been broken up for use in S sets or did this only apply to Black Depot R sets?

i dont know but all the R sets ive ever seen this year are super six? MTM-MTM which are basicaly like 2 L sets

BUT it was like a hornsby one cause arent those sets have their target plates glued /bolted on instead of hung on the plate holder and it was a black target plate too

Was it R13? Its a flemmo set, has been for some time now.
Not all R sets from HMC have been broken up either...
R44 (HMC) is now R19 (FMC) R38 and R34 were also transferred across.

yeah but theres no MTMTTM Trains anymore there is just MTMMTM

wheni get to C-Town in the morning an R Set pulls into Mcuarthur and on the way back home an A set and R set pulls out

S123 and part of S124 are in consist.
Thats MTTM-TM

Oh didnt know

To confirm, R13 runs on the Tuesday 16:49 service from Canley Vale to the City via Granville. It was spotted yesterday also running through Lidcombe towards the City at around 21:5X . It also has a black target plate stuck on the front not in a holder.

Maybe there are no standard R sets except those that have 2 cars missing dues to defects as mentioned previously. The 6 car sets remaining are all in Rocket or Super 6 configs.

It was an S Set today and both services with the exact same Millenium and A set beside platform 1

Who cares? It's a train, it gets you there......there's no prerequisite that off peak trains must be the type you like....

You wouldent like coming into a terminating station on an nonairconditioned train sweating and seeing all those airconditioned rolling stock sitting there doing nothing (but I would prefer S sets over M's and A's)

You need to stop posting garbage. Just because the set is stabled there doesn't mean it's sitting around doing nothing. Stabled trains are often used for crew training, may be standby trains incase another train fails, may be waiting for a run to start, or may even be waiting to go to a shed to be exchanged with another set fresh out of maintenance.
Stop and think for a second instead of spamming this and every other forum within reach.

Well something was going on with the A set as the pantographs went down and up and it kept making noises like it was going to move out of the station that one could of had crew training

Ever thought that the train might be being prepared for service? (As in having its systems/equipment checked.)

What raichase said.
Just because a train is stabled does not mean that it's going to be there the rest of the day. Yep, there's a couple S Sets at eveleigh that are always there, but other than that, stock moves. Consistantly

I found out from the Waratahs Updates thread that the train was being tested for standards before it could go into a service.

Well done you!

Are you sure? I usually go there and theres different stock sometimes that take the position of those S sets.
