In fact if you look closely at the 3rd photo down (click on it and then hit zoom), you can see evidence of touch-ups to the maroon paint as well as discern some faded paint also.  This suggests to me that there was an amount of touch ups on the yellow (possibly quite a lot) as well, not necessarily a full-coat.

You would think a complete paint job would be easier than a major touch up job. The yellow looks to be a different colour to the old QR Corporate livery, but it may just be the light. Any idea why the big "52" on the short hood? Seems a bit strange to put part of the loco number there (if indeed that's what it represents).

That yellow, i think is all fresh stuff. Looked like here in Burnie.

From Toby's photos all paint appears to be new. I wonder why they kept the maroon?

Maybe the grille makes it too hard? So it's either part of the number or something that is so small it might as well not be there.

Loving the horn, very distinctive.  Especially on a calm day like today, carries a long way.  One has just made it's way down St Leonards bank, just entering East Tamar Yard as I post this.

Sounds great hey Roo. Something new and different, not overly loud like some.

The yellow on 2052 looks identical in colour to the yellow on repainted 5 x DQ units. The QR yellow is definitely lighter in hue. The bronco colour scheme looks alright!looks good!

I notice a number of alterations, number boards plated over, ditch lights repositioned to top of pilot, additional horn under left side of cab.

The nose number looks odd - ARG in Western Australia have their logo over the grill of the air conditioner so is too difficult to spray a number?

So what is the conversion of the old QRN loco number to the new Tasrail loco numbers.

I think it was:

2150 = 2052
2151 = 2051
2153 = 2053
2154 = 2054

The numbers on the front are vinyl cut reflective numbers, I believe there were going to be issues putting them on the grille.

This seems to most appropriate place to put this info........
If it belongs on another thread then a moderator may be able to move it!

Last night on Foxtel channel 607 (A&E) at 10pm "MegaTruckers" featured two Australian 'mega moves'. One was a piece of mining equipment from Coffs Harbour to Brisbane, the other was the movement of (ex) QR locos 2153 and 2154 from Qld all the way to Devonport (via Burnie).
I cannot find reference to this anywhere else on RP so in case no one else saw it, I am posting on this forum.

It was very interesting and very enlightening, and followed the journey right through to placing the locos back on their bogies at Deveonport. It even showed that they were even fined by the Tasminian traffic authority for some 'breech' (not specified) of some loading rules being broken on the journey from Burnie to Devonport.........which begs the question that if they were in breech why did they not transfer the  locos to rail at Burnie and avoid the risk of being fined.

I notice that the Megatruckers program is on again at 3pm today, but it does not specifically state the content.

Might be worth a look for those who can view it (or remotely command their IQ to record it)

I'm not sure if we get Foxtel in Tassie, just Austar here. However there seems to be a short introduction clip here on Youtube with a link to download the episode:

2051 and 2052 may have run to Conara and back to East Tamar, possibly a test run? Probably today but possibly yesterday?

So, these too may head on the paper train or intermodal freight soon?

Great footage - zipping along well! If anyone gets a heads up regarding when they venture south to Hobart - especially if they're going to be on 32 out of Boyer, let me know so I can film/photo the beasties in action!

Cheers

Yeah mate. Took a trip to Railton last week and took some snaps. Even managed to get the tamper and regulator on their way through too. Will upload over the weekend.

A couple of the 'new' 2050 class in the lead of 35 into Hobart this morning in the company of 3 or 4 other locos and a decent consist of 30+ wagons.

The distinctive horn was evident from several km away.

They look and sound quite impressive.

Are the other two up and about yet?

Cheers,
