if they are talking "bulk haulage" the only real this in vic is grain, so perhaps SCT is about to start in that market??

SCT (or SBR) are supposed to have got the Horsham container traffic.
So they are starting general work in Victoria.
The Laverton to Perth service is crewed by GWA crews on a contract basis.

So would this still be a seperate train, or would it be combined with SCT's existing services?

Just wait and see who gets this......

Just wait and see who gets this......
Been told the same thing today aswell. The SCT crews will start the Horsham a few days a week then gradually take over then they will start to do the SCT. Also been told they are looking at relay again.
Now the questions has to be asked now what with Qube. You wouldn't buy westgate if you only have the Deni to run.

I believe that SCT has one contract to operate trains from Horsham to Melbourne whilst Qube will also be operating a separate train.
How good is that? Two operators, neither being Pac Nat or El Zorro, operating competing intrastate freight services. A few years ago we might have thought this to be impossible.

Good news indeed. Is there that much freight available out of Horsham to justify two operators?
Edward

prob not...

What about the grain? Will that be in PACRAT?
If so, then surely that makes 3??

Brian

Qube/POTA aleady run between Melbourne-Horsham, Melbourne-Echuca/Deni.
Are these two services currently crewed by Cube/POTA staff or by independent hire companies?

They have there own crews just need more.

Any word on when the SCT Horsham freights are likely to commence? CSR006 has been doing a few training runs to Dimboola and back.

Have heard end of April.

The first train departed tonight on the way to Horsham with 9 flats on it and 7 of them were loaded with contaners

I heard the first service was to start soon, not tonight however? The wagons for this service were only shuffled around in Dry Creek today. Obviously your source is more informed then mine!

A few people have sent me messages that CSR006 went to Horsham with wagons in tow.

VicSig.net latest photos has a photo of CSR006 hauling 9 wagons.

I wonder if the Horsham train loco when in Melbourne might also do the SCT wagon transfer to / from QRN east coast service.

No they will NOT do the QR transfer they are doing the Horsham only.
Did you know you can now record your sightings in our new Sightings module?
