Similarly, the user C130 on Bus Australia has posted up photos of the result of a rock slide (in 2007), similar to yesterday's incident on the Newcastle and Central Coast Line:

Having seen the rock in question from the Wondabyne slide, it was 1/3 of the size of the rock shown in that image on Bus Australia.

Apparently a passenger smashed a window on an up western S/K set at Seven Hills about 1545h, passengers were sent off to wait for the next train and the damaged train was sent back to Blacktown.

Trains were also not running to timetable this afternoon on the North Shore Line into the city. Some trains skipped stops and others were up to 8 mins late.

Direct trains from Newcastle and Wyong for the Easter Show will be using the Homebush loop line, instead of going into Strathfield and proceeding to Olympic Park from there, as has been the case for the last few years.

Yesterday I was at Seven Hills station (local station) and noticed the top concourse now has a Commonwealth ATM machine.

On one hand, it'd come handy for commuters who have no cash or coins in their wallets to pay for fares (especially in the morning).

But on the other hand, it's an easy target for people to break into the ATM machine (in plain view)

Ditto with the public concourse at Campbelltown.

I noticed this afternoon at Warrawee (probably other stations as well), but the DVA does no longer say: "The next train to arrive on Platform 2 goes to...." Now it says, using Warrawee as the example, "Hornsby, Wahroonga, Waitara and Hornsby." It also does this on Platform 1. Does anyone know why this has changed?

At Warrawee, do they just simply state the destination and stopping pattern without any extra remarks?

They've changed announcements a while ago at some stations, e.g.
"The train on platform 3 is for all stations to Epping. First stop North Ryde, Macquarie Park, Macquarie University and Epping"

I've heard this at Chatswood and similarly at Rydalmere, but I'm not sure if or how they will be implemented at other stations.

Seven Hills has EFTPOS ticket machines and windows, so I don't really see why people would want to take out money and then buy tickets with that money when they can just buy it using their card. I see more people using it the afternoon, to take out cash before going home.

Arncliffe Station will be temporarily closed?

Another announcement changed: Instead of "Attention Passengers...", it's now, "Customers, on Platform x the next train does not stop at this platform, please stand behind the yellow line, please stand clear"

  parraeel Chief Train Controller

A lot of the DVA messages have been changed. We had to alter some of our saved messages because words or phrases that were used are no longer in the library.  "Attention passengers" is no longer available, although "does not pick up passengers" is.

"Coach services" is replaced with "Coach". "Booked seat passengers" is replaced with "customers with reserved seating".

A lot of our messages were altered to this:

unknown segment  on platform 1 , trains unknown segment depart from unknown segment.

A lot of messages had unknown segment.

There is Trackwork scheduled on the Illawarra that weekend , so presumably the sign is more for non-rail customers ( or those requiring the Rail Bus ) who will not be able to cross from one side to the other on the station bridge

They did this a few weeks ago with Roseville.

Are they announcements compiled by the LLDVA (outside of station hours/unattended)? They always seem to be last for changes. Took them ages to change "Sydney Terminal" to "Central".

The LLDVA stations are cut and paste jobs, which is what they're trying to eradicate. ie "the next train" "to" "arrive" "on" "platform" "1" "goes to" "Campbelltown"

Phases should be used ie "the next train to arrive on platform 1" "goes to" "Campbelltown"

How else will passengers get onto the platform? Levitate down?

Station closures are nothing new.
