I have recently noticed new works happening at ESSENDON station on platform 1. There is a new saftey rail in the middle of platform 1 and 2, as well as a new path running along side the saftey rail. Does anyone know why this was put in?
There is another rough concrete path on the down side of the Mount Road bridge just outside the dwarf. There is also a similar concrete path on the up side of Essendon again just outside the dwarf.Path needed due to this:
The need for these additional paths is not clear to me as I assumed that any reversing railcar would arrive in platform 1 and the driver would simply walk down the platform. This is all they seem to do at Spencer Street and as they used to do when changing ends at Kensington.
No doubt there is a reason.
Oh for the days when the Spirit and the 1615 Albury would career through 2 road.
