Only people who drive like five year-olds... Mr. Green
Graham4405

I have a near 4 year old who is quite happy to stand on the top edge of the couch when I'm asleep on the same couch and jump as high as he can landing feets and knees first to what ever part of me is facing up, (guess what usually get hits first) and laugh the whole time. And some idiot wants give a loaded gun to one of these!

What responsible parent gives a 5 year old a gun period?

I *really* hope they were much more than 5 years old when this took place...
Graham4405
Yes that is a good point Graham4405, five years old is way to young to even give the kid a slingshot let alone a weapon of mass destruction.

They were Graham4405 the oldest one was about 15 I think at the time. I did each one individually that wanted to learn after they got over 10 years old though.

I really learn't to shoot after a bushfire at a rellies property, there were about 300 sheep that had to be put down. It had to be a quick death as well. Not the best way to have to learn anything though. Yes I still eat lamb etc today.

A crack student (by which I mean a excellent, top, student) takes some fake crack (heroin?), goes crazy, and thinking that he can fly like a bird, jumps off a third floor balcony to his death. Not quite the usual Darwinistic candidate.

That wouldn't have helped, they were not distilling ethanol for themselves, they drank a batch of intentionally made methanol for use in biodiesel. If they were drinking a batch of 'grappa' and forgot to discard the methanol they might have stood a chance of surviving, but this was pure methanol, a shot glass full can be deadly.

There is currently a radio advertisement about a fellow crying about losing a close friend...

(perhaps through methanol)

... the friend is a car.

Well methanol is the lightest alcohol and does come off first, without doing a proper chemical analysis that is a close figure for the quantity of methanol expected.

A synthetic drug was not illegal in NSW when Fang allegedly provided it to Mr Kwan.

Police say Henry Kwan, 17, believing himself invincible, and able to fly like a bird, broke free from the grip of his mother and sister and jumped from the third-floor balcony of their Killara apartment in June.

In the 19th Century, a children's book (Peter Pan???) encouraged some young readers to jump off building and fly, causing nasty accidents.

The authorities persuaded the author to modify the book to say that a sprinkling of "Fairy Dust" was need to enable flight.

The Sunday Telegraph of 23 June 2013 has a front pager leader about trivial "Last Text" sent by people who had fatal car accidents while texting:

* "I'll be home soon."

* "I'm on while to Napier."

* "Hey are you still coming today".

* "Eureka: E=MC". (A. Einstein).

The last one is particularly puzzling; was Albert trying to say something important?

One lady posted to her daughter "I love you" 15 times a day, until suddenly and strangely all such messages stopped.

625-VOLT WEE KILLS SKATER

A US skateboarder was electrocuted urinating on a live subway track in Brooklyn, New York.

Matthew Zeno, 30, died in hospital and a friend, 26, who tried to help him is in a serious but stable condition after pulling him off the track.

"Zeno accidentally make deadly contact with the deadly rail, sending 625,000mV ripping through his body," officials said.

This is not the first time that this has happened, though the mX report is undated and may be a repeat of an earlier accident.

Will the small single deck tunnels on Sydney's NWRL have dangerous third rails, or harder and safer to wee on overhead catenary?

I thought I saw an episode of Mythbusters where they disproved that because when you urinate it isnt one continuous stream, rather the fluid breaks up as it falls towards the ground.

Yeah, well having been made to piss on an electric fence as part of an initiation process many years ago, I can definitely testify that it conducts electricity down the stream. The result is a bit like having your nuts hit with a hammer.

High iron content in your urine?

Electric Fence carry a very much higher voltage (8000v+) therefore arcing is more likely. Try standing near one on a very humid day.

Although Mythbusters couldn't prove it (because the broken stream) doesn't mean someone mightn't have a unbroken stream, step on the third rail or get hit by a train in the process.

Surprised

Mythbusters seems pretty credible given they go out of their way to prove something and often when 'the myth' is busted they still try and see what it takes to confirm it. They're also quite good at explaining the science behind it. High speed cameras help too.

(And love to have their workshop !!!)

A hiker hurts his ankle, and the terrain is too rugged to get him out by 4WD.

So a helicoptor is called in.

As the hiker (with an assistant) tries to getting into the the helicopter, he skips and falls fatally 30m to the ground.

The radio mentions that he weighs 140kg; would this explain the over-strained ankle, and the slip and fall?
