    There was no real thread to put this in, so maybe this could be used for any posts about random happenings.

    My contribution is the fact that this mornings Indian Pacific arrived with 6 x Fully Loaded Motorail wagons. Not sure when the last time I saw that many on an IP.

    Saw a very short 2 car Australind Train crossing church avenue just south of Armadale station this arvo.

    From Railway Parade to the Swan Transit bus depot (Radium St / Welshpool Rd), the old railway corridor has been cleared of weeds, dugites and mosquitoes and is now a mesa of grey sand ready for industrial development.

    Location: Trying to fix something on the PTA Network
    Saw the Australind double in size today (compared to my earlier post). Booking numbers must be up over Easter as they had a four car set doing the run to Bunbury ex Perth on Friday 29/03/2013.

    Very exiting for me to see, because today was the first time I'd ever seen a four car Australind set in the flesh. Very Happy

    What's the go with the rake of loaded Stackwagons sitting at QR Forrestfield, in the sidings next to the Grain hoppers?

    They've been there for a few days now.......

    I noticed this week there is new track work going in at the northern end of the CBH complex at Kwinana. Is this the start of a servicing facility for Watco, a new siding for the acid fleet, or something altogether different??

    Its been going on for quite some time now. they closed the crossing behind the bhp nickel refinery then started clearing and levelling ground, bringing ballast piles and prefabricated sg track on steel sleepers. Being CBH operates Ng and sg I wasn't thinking its for them unless they have other plans like welding Ng in later or something else.

    Working at Kenwick station today, and got a nice surprise at midday when a single Australind Unit rolled through heading south. Assuming it was returning from the wheel lathe, but though they would have waited for the evening service to ferry it back to Bunbury.

    They are off the Intermodal service. Due to the arrival of two services and one departing, the Short arrival roads are used to store the extra wagons until they can be put back into the intermodal terminal.

    Unusual Australind movements this week noticed at Kenwick
    Tuesday saw ADP101 + ADQ? Heading south about midday
    Friday saw the morning service arrive with 4 cars ADL ADQ ADQ ADL, but departed south minus 1 ADQ.

    Today marks the last scheduled operation of the ADK/ADL sets in Auckland, bringing an end to 50 years of service to 2 city's.

    Yesterday 5AP8 and today 1PA8 Indian Pacific were both double headers with NR27 & NR18 doing the honors. They didnt turn so 27 lead in yesterday and 18 out today

    I have a couple of observations from a post-Xmas trip out into the wheatbelt.

    At Merredin at sunset on Sunday 28 Dec 2014, I saw a westbound SCT freighter stopped at West Merredin.  A number of wagons at the end of the train had become detached and were blocking the level crossing at the west end of the town.  Not sure why - does SCT do any shunting at West Merredin?

    The following day, Monday 29 Dec 2014, I photographed the Perth-bound Prospector at Kellerberrin.  At the west end of the train was WDB012, but I didn't catch the number of the other unit (presumably a WDA) at the east end - can anybody tell me which one it was?

    Just seen todays IP arrive at East Perth at 1430 instead of the usual 0900.
    Any ideas of the cause for the delay?

    NR60 up front.

    the west end points at the Kalgoorlie locomotive depot have been pulled out over the last couple of days. there is now no access to the depot as the PTA own the toilet road. the two wagons that are stranded in the depot will probably be scrapped.

    SCT have taken over the ILS contract from Aurizon for haulage of containers between Forrestfield and North Quay.

    I assume you mean a CSR class type SDA-1 numbered above CSR 006 lettered for "Specialised Bulk Resources"?
