I am considering a trip on the Cockatoo Run in June.

I have always wanted to ride the Unanderra-Moss Vale railway line. I am wondering if I should alight at Robertson and explore the town  until the train returns or complete the full trip to Moss Vale.

From what I have researched, there isn't a whole lot to do in Moss Vale and even then, it would be only  a 1 hour window to wait to catch the 3801 bak.

My question is if it is worth travelling that extra hour to Moss Vale?

On the 27th July the RTM Is running a tour that goes up the hill and returns to Sydney via Cambelltown which is another option

In an hour? No, I'd alight at Robertson and go for a walk. However if you are willing to do one-way there are numerous things you can do, like the Breamar model railways (near Mittagong) or the International Cricket Hall of Fame in Bowral, if you like cricket.

I recommend the trip right through to Moss Vale. The scenery is different between Robertson and Moss Vale, and the train travels more quickly on this section is the line is much flatter.
Moss Vale station is interesting and you might see some trains passing on the Main South. There are some nice parks and quite a few shops near the station.
Robertson is a much smaller town than Moss Vale. There are only a handful of shops, cafes, etc. Alternatively, you could do the tour from Robertson to the Illawarra  Fly Tree Top Walk, which is nice if you like to walk in beautiful forests.
It depends on what you are most interested in.

Personally I prefer Moss Vale. After all I'm on a TRAIN trip so shouldn't I maximise my TRAIN time?

MossyVale is OK. There's food, There's a park, There's streets to walk through. Then the best part: there's the Cocky to catch back home again.
