The list of traders and exhibitors for the Epping exhibition on June long weekend looks good again and can be found at http://www.eppingmodelrailway.org.au/exhibition.html.  I'm looking forward to going to this one again this year.

Looks like a good show coming up.  Must compliment the Epping people on their web site announcing the show.  Well set out to tell us when, where (in detail), how much to get in and what we would see there.

I must be the one visitor from ID.  Quite a few other overseas visitors have checked it out though.

Although bus services have been provided by the club, maybe a small mention on the web site to the fact on the Queens Birthday weekend, there are no trains running between Central and Newcastle - a three day shutdown on the Main North (as happens every Queens Birthday weekend).

If people are aware of this then this may alter their travel patterns.

Thank you very much for that info. I'm coming down from Brisbane to Newcastle to see the family but was planning (on one of the three days) to then catch a train down to Hornsby for the show. Looks like I'll be driving now. Bugger.

Thanks, if I'm reading the rail-bus timetable from the smeg site correctly - the express buses do not stop at Hornsby. There is a limited stop route that does include Hornsby, but at 2 1/2 hours for Broadmeadow-Hornsby, I'll drive.

I would recommend planning on getting there early if driving, even before it opens owing to the parking not being all that great, at least last year it wasn't owing to big works taking place for I think a golf driving range, which took up all the spaces that were used as car parking in that area at the first Exh there.

Last year I went on the Saturday, & took me only 40 minutes from Wyong so the drive is pretty easy really, & even if the trains were running, I would likely drive anyway.

Sadly I will be missing this years event.

Attended today and loved it. The quality of layouts and the absence of people clambering over each other to get "that" exhibition special gives this exhibition the feel of being more of a modeller's show than the annual Liverpool exhibition, even if it is smaller.

Standouts for me were Whereisit and Binalong. It was really good to see prototypical running offered by Whereisit, with trains crossing, shunting, and actually stopping at the station! Binalong was a new standard of modelling for the EMRC, with much finer, crisper details on structures and scenery. I especially liked the working semaphore signals on the main as trains passed.

Really enjoyed the other layouts and trade stands too. No photos I'm afraid, but I recommend heading down if you're hesitating on going this weekend.

The canteen prices were a bit expensive, but I guess EMRC don't really have control over that and it's almost to be expected at a sporting arena.

Congrats to the EMRC for putting on a great show.

Cheers,
Ben

Bathley Creek certainly attracted the visitors including a small child with a portable step ladder!! I also liked 638 Mile which seems to have taken a more Western Division feel to it

I was in the area yesterday and dropped by, some really great detailed layouts, even if they were mostly NSW 'narrow gauge'Wink.
Austrains has some good show specials, I picked up an AN green CL for $200 and a black C36 for $200 aswell (for that price I couldn't pass it up, even for a SAR fanantic like myself) -Actually most Austrains locos were $200 Smile

What about the NRs for $175
  5711 Assistant Commissioner

Yes NRs were on special...
The Eureka 50 class test shots were there
Nothing new from Auscision
Southern explorers were releases and awesome.

There was some clambering for those Austrains specials......nothing that got my interest.

I did see some NRs, (trailerail, seatrain, steel train etc I think) and not at inflated ebay prices!
and some tempting VR C and X class....

The Auscision AN does look good in person, cant wait.

Bathley Creek was literally a breath of fresh air, the layout and display were very well executed. My favourite of the show.

sorry Andrew - I did not take any pics so apologies for not being able to share some visuals...
The show in all was very good.
Most manufacturers were there - here is a general overview:
Auscision had their mega stall as usual but there was nothing really new to indicate anything 'scoop worthy'. The $150 bargain bin had all V/Line B Class loco's and nothing else. For sale was all the main products from their website. There was the N cars in the cabinet obviously close to release and they look fantastic.
Austrains had a 'clearance/stocktake ' sale happening and these covered NR/DL/CL/35/36 all heavily reduced. There was no 81/G/BL samples to be seen which was disappointing.
Eureka had their D50 test shots and it looks very nice. There were also the usual AD60 parts and their regular line on sale. I did see a grey nurse C3801 for sale on the desk which was a surprise. There was also a candy HUB set also - these are sell outs already but it was a one off sale I think.
Southern Models had the Explorers on sale - and wow. They look great. They also had the stanchions for sale which were quite nice. The fuel depot was also on display albeit on pre-order.
On Track models had the BOB cars painted samples there - very nice. Could not tell if the later release 82's were available.

The layout were well presented. Binalong was my choice.
Most layouts were Aust/NSW based from what I could tell.
Other regulars were: Time and Paitence, South Creek and Valley Heights ( O scale )

Crowds were good and under control....overall well done to the Epping organisers....

I went today & enjoyed the exhibition, there was bit of a queue to get in (we arrive at 9:50) but once in it was not too crowded & was nice and easy to get around.
As others have mentioned there are some very nice layouts on display, Binalong was very good and as I have spent some time in the general area due to work a few years ago it was nice to see & yep the semaphores are a nice touch, I also liked John Parker's O scale Valley Heights layout - very well done & a credit to John.
At the Ontrack stand I asked about the early LLVs (Ontrack had posted about a delay due to packaging problems in their post on this forum), they said they actually had some where the lamp lamp irons that contact the blister packaging got bent & where selling them as 2nds - at $110 per set I thought it was too good a price not get get some.

All in all a very good exhibition, congrats to the organisers & I look forward to attend many more in the future.

Cheers Alex.

yep - I got some LLVs too - they went thru the pile and got an undamaged set, but still only charged $110 - very nice of them! The BOB sets looked really wonderful to an uneducated eye - they'll look great behind a 32.

I went with the idea of buying a 82 or a 422 I ended up buying an VR X class and I am in the process of adding sound ,a Tsunami AT1000 EMD645. Here are some pictures of some models coming out soon. I will post some pictures of the layouts soon

I drove around Epping for hours, all the way from Wollert to Lalor and Mill Park and couldn't find any train set show, I don't think it really happened - like those fake moon landings.

It's actually at the Brick Pit Stadium on Dartford Rd, Thornleigh not at Epping as the name suggests.

That's right, and it might be worthwhile keeping an eye on http//www.australianmodelrailways.com/amdiary.html

While they don't list all shows, the major shows, dates, times and locations of the shows are listed there.
