As for announcing Belair opening date, there are fortnightly community updates on the DTEI website, so it may be in there, or put in the Goodwood Underpass or Belair Rail Line sections on Friday and then relayed to Adelaide Metro and even media.

I don't think they've even worked out which company is going to lay the track through Goodwood Station and underpass yet.

Saw an illuminated road sign on Lander Road Sheidow Park just a few minutes ago with message about the electrification "wires" being switched on from 13 June.

Regarding the re-opening of the Belair line, what happened to the 1 July date that was posted on here a couple of weeks ago?

On my wallpaper this morning at work there is this message-

"The power to the southern railway network will be switched on from 17 June 2013. The overhead wires, their metallic supports and fittings will be 'live' and carrying electrical current at all times. Safety is paramount during both construction and in the operation of an electrified system. For further information please visit our website http://www.infrastructure.sa.gov.au/stayswitchedon."

Thanks for this, Milkomeda - looks like they didn't have to chop back the pines too much at all (or maybe they're yet to do it?).

Many power poles yet to be erected now near the Don Bradman road bridge area.

So is Show ground central to be used one last time this year? as the new Wayville station does not open till November signs up on Anzac highway and richmond road carry this Message.

Practical answer to Show Grounds Central would be No!

There is no turnback cross over on the up side of the old site. They might be able to run through to Goodwood, but why bother?

Can you back thus up?

I can't back it up, but DPTI could push it back ... again.

Good to know and I saw masts being installed near Hallet Cove Station today with a crane and I also saw that electronic billboard with the rail corridor power being turned on.

Has the 4000 railcars arrived already? Or will they be arriving and testing them on the 17th?

Mid next month they will be arriving

So the 17th of June is when the first power test begins then?

This morning (07:30) masts were being unloaded and positioned next to their footings between the Hilton Bridges and old Keswick.
  Halo Chief Train Controller

AFAIK they are arriving without their internal fittings. They won't need power for a while yet.

Milko, according to the illuminated sign on Lander Road at Sheidow Park the wires should be considered as LIVE from 17 June 2013.

As a professional EE I can say there is a significant difference between consider as live and "in service" (There's that debate again!).

I guess the 400 cars can run trials before all the seats are fitted and the AC works. If it were mine I'd be busting to give it a test drive even if the driver was perched on a milk crate!Laughing

I have found out that the new trains should start arriving this month (providing things go right). The wires between Seaford and Hallet Cove will be 'switched on' so that testing can commence in sections.

Also from september Diesel trains will provide service between Noarlunga and Adelaide, while Seaford will remain closed till electric services commence in early 2014 (although we know how flexible the definition of early is for the DPTI).

Still no mention on when Tonsley will open following the duplication announcement.

Found out tonight at Leader St that the trigger for crossings will be done by wheel count  as opposed to insulated sections of old.
