12:40 just saw PPTV passing through Auburn being hauled by 4486 looks to be missing quite a few parts.
It's always been missing quite a few parts - PPTV was essentially a stainless steel shell with the bare minimum gear to make it move. No GRP, handrails, vinyl or seats. Interesting that they decided to loco haul it rather than bring the two TDCs up on trucks. Was it the full 4 cars?

Good point Raichase, my 5am brain was probably not at its explanatory best. However there are no current plans to send the A's south anytime in the fleet allocation plans I've seen up until 2019 (any unforeseen transpositions aside of course). I think the government should fade out all the other suburban sets and only have A-sets, and also design a V-set replacement and replace the V-sets.-V Set repalcement should be done in next 10 - 20 years when the last of the Vs cannot move.
The money will be better spend on network upgrades to improve efficiency, on time running and reliability
You'll see A sets at Hurstville for sure. Especially since they go around the Banko. I myself have taken an A set to Hurstville when Sydenham had a points failure.Seen them there often, every time the Banko is closed at the weekend, even seen a couple as far south as Waterfall while testing.

Sitting in A23 this morning and noticed on the passenger display when the crew make an announcement at interchange stations, that "guard announcement" no longer shows and has been changed to "driver announcement".Just to appease those who write to Mx saying the Driver is making the announcement

It may have been the guard using this intercom, or the driver making the announcement from the leading cab. That message has always been in the system and it could display guard or driver depending on which intercom is used.
