I am a great fan of these storage depots from DCC concepts:

However now for my railcars, like the Eureka 620/720s, plus the new Xplorers from Southern Rail and many other passenger cars, I don't particularly want to pull them apart all the time due to the fragile nature of the plastic connection between the cars. However as I don't have a layout and transport them often I can't keep them permanently coupled.

The longest MPD from DCC Concepts is 560mm long and that's unfortunately too short for trains like a two car Xplorer. Is there anything longer length wise in size available here or overseas that can take longer trains so I don't need to couple and uncouple them all the time?

If you've got the box to put them in I can point you in the direction of the people to get the foam from. 2m lengths, 6 slots for HO items - 28.5cm wide, you can cut it to length and width to suit your needs with a sharp scalpel. OK the South Australian Railway Modellers Association Inc (SARMA) have foam storage trays as described above for sale at $40 collected from our club-rooms at Dernancourt SA - these will be done as "to order" as we are currently short on space.  

We have not attempted to post them (yet) but don't expect too many issues as being a single piece of foam they should resume their shape readily as they would be in transit for a short period of time only.  

Working out the postage it would probably be around $12 each but this would need to be confirmed with AusPost.
