For my sins, which must be many, I am now the editor of the UK's 7 1/4" Gauge Society magazine. There's more about us here:
http://www.sevenandaquarter.org
My own little line is developing slowly around our half acre garden. I have a battery electric loco, designed and built with Phoenix Locomotives
http://phoenixlocos.com/products/model-locos/the-scooter/
and a couple of flat wagons.
The cunning plan is to a have siding into our paddock to pick up manure from our neighbour's stables. I will be using large plastic crates, two per flat wagon, as containers. Then, every so often I will put down a temporary siding across the lawn and run poo trains to our ever extending veg patch. It's a win/win. The neighbours pay less frequently to have their manure pile removed and our veg grows bigger and better. And, of course, I get to play trains at 12" to the foot scale just as Arthur Heywood did over 100 years ago.
But the other reason for butting into this forum is to say it would be great to have an article or two about what you guys are doing on 7 1/4". Articles don't need to be long or brilliantly written (Hey, I'm an editor, so I'll edit - if required). Our magazine switched from A5 to A4 so it's now easier to put in bigger, better photos (which always need to be the original size 'straight from camera please).
So, any offers?
