Not all moderators know the tech speak and chat stuff, and besides the  Mod DavidB hasn't been able to assist us for a few years...... and unlikely to answer you  !!

I went and did a simple google - and found the answers......quite quickly IMHO ( in my humble opinion).

Having spent the last 5 years as a moderator on a forum for travel agents I have to say that I am fully in support of a ban on all capital letters,it was the bane of my life until recently when I found a plug in that will automatically change all but the first letter of each word to lowercase, what a happy day that was!.
I also agree that overuse of acronymns like "roflmao" "imho" etc is something to be discouraged.
I have only been posting here for a few days but already I love the site and
if I can suck up to the moderators for a minute,I also would like to say that you guys do a great job,it's a great site which is well moderated and I look forward to being a regular contributor.
Cheers

IANAL - I am not a lawyer

CBF - couldn't be , well, you know!

STFU - shut the flap up! Not necessarily a personal attack; "Did you hear, Michael Jackson just died?" "nooooo, STFU!"

Two that should be known to any person on or around railways, FUBAR and SNAFU.

1337 - elite. How? Well, the word elite gets modified to "leet" which when express using numbers, 1 for l, 3 for e and 7 for t becomes "1337". Sad but true.

Digging up somewhat old threads to add very little is also something that's a bit on the annoying side...  Smile

James From time to time, I may use & in place of and, which is acceptable English. I do wholeheartedly agree on the other banned words, if you can call them that!

Me too.  I have used it a few times myself.  It will be sorely missed.

True, but 'WTF' has a better impact.

I assume that 'OMFG' and 'JFC' get the order of the Rear End too.

I understand that this was from many years ago, and that I shouldn't be digging up old threads, but that post raises a question. I can definitely understand why OMFG would be banned (in fact I hate OMFG) but I don't even know what JFC means. (If there are any rude words involved, just write the first letter.)

"Jesus F***ing Christ".

I'm not even joking.

EDIT: Oops, MGH has found a more subtle explanation...

"CFCLA" is surely a legimate All-Capitals title??? See thread of this name.

OK, add a few lower case letters, such as "CFCLA locos".
