(it was 19 degrees outside) i found a thermometer and it said 35 degrees. is there a reason that Tangaras get hot and stuffy?
hey there, another noob question

Only major faults with the ac show on the Tangara TMS screen.
I also suspect this fault isn't detected by the train's fault logger so it doesn't get fixed till enough people complain and it finally ends up on a defect sheet.
The thermostats do fail....Only faults that shut down the control unit cause an faults message on the TMS. If the A/C unit is faulty, but the control unit is 'sending' the right signals to the A/C unit - then no fault is recorded. Guards should, when doing their preperation, note the inside temperatures and report units that are not working correctly.
Each 'pod' appears to have it's own setting, I've been on Tangara's where one deck is hot, the other cold. The crew's only control of this is the AC circuit breaker.
35 degrees is probably as hot as the system can go, the sensor has failed 'cold' and the system has gone to full heat to warm the cabin up. They fail the other way too, turning the cabin into a refrigerator.

The newer trains have smarter AC units and their faults are probably mostly detected and sent to the train's fault logger, so the maintenance staff find out sooner.
Bring back trains with windows that opened and closed.Ah, the good old days... alas, we live in a world where air flow and proper ventilation come second to avoiding all the tedious paperwork and lawsuits that result from some moron sticking (and losing) a body part out the window.
It's only the Tangaras that actively try to murder youthank god i travel exclusively on the Illawarra line![]()
The air-conditioning unit settings are checked and altered at maintenance centres and should be 18-19°C.The operation of the A/C is checked, not the temperature. Point out in the train prep guide where it tells the crew to check the temperature?
The temperature is also checked during train preparation.
The temperature may vary slightly being near a vent.
