Yeah gotta love getting in for those early bird specials!

The only good part is that at least when my 3x 40 class, 1 x 48 class and 1x 81 class eventually turn up I don't have to find any money as they've all been paid for a looooong time ago.

Have to look o the bright side of these things Laughing

That D50 looks promising. Going to indulge in one of those for sure.

Love the timeline as far as 2015 for the D57 and D58! That's miles away!!

You have got to be joking mate.  That is only the year after next.  Now read Mark's post where he tells us he paid for his Hudson R class in June 2006.  2015 is almost upon us.  That is if one is to believe the estimate. Rolling Eyes  'Twould be the fastest ever!

The D57/58's were first mentioned in a Eureka newsletter in July 2007 Shocked
In the same newsletter was announced the K class, the Silver City Comet and the HUB sets. All of them may well have been mentioned in an earlier AMRM, I'm not certain.
So in fact if they do arrive in 2016 they'll have taken a somewhat inglorious 9 years from announcement to arrival.  Unfortunately, this looks to me to be extremely unlikely.
Even 2017 is probably pushing it.

Toby

Ron was floating the idea of a K class (as well as DERMS and Walkers) a few months before the official announcement in 2007. Despite claiming to have overcome the problems of delay by moving production to a "new" factory projects still seem to be running late or to be more precise not according to the announced schedule. Mind you Ron is not the only one with late projects; Auscision and Trainorama also have "late projects". It is just that Ron seems to have a special sort of optimism in his announcements and pre-orders.

Blog update a bit over an hour ago (http://eurekamodels.blogspot.com.au/2013/04/more-news-on-r-class-word-received.html):

Word received today that the sound decoders for the R class will be delivered to the factory on the 26th of April. This means that both sound and non-sound units are likely to be assembled and despatched together. Still no definite despatch date.

Has anyone heard any more on when these will be available ? Seems to have gone very quiet......

Are the eureka loco's good runners generally, and what is their quality like, as they look good in the photo's, but what are they like in person ?

I'm thinking of handing over the bucks for one, but I may wait until they update a bit more, as after the stories on here, it may be best to wait and see what happens.

Does anyone know how the dc sound works ( i am yet to dcc myself !), does it simply chuff as it speeds up, with a random whistle, or is it chuff and that's it, unless I go over to the dark side, and ask the minister of finance if she'll allow a dcc budget  to enjoy all the sound goodies haha !  Very Happy

Quite allot was promised for the middle of this year as well we were told that AMRM would carry regular updates. Essentially we have had nothing in the way of news. This is a familar story sapper-pat if you are a bit new to Eureka they seem to operate on a "need to know" basis with the assumption that their clients don't need to know. Iain

I sent an email to Eureka a couple of weeks ago and was told that the factory said the R Class was about 6 to 8 weeks away.  They were talking about booking shipping space.  So going by that they should be here about early to mid September.

Its hard to say regarding the reliability of Eureka models, especially loco's as there have been many who have had no issues while others a lot. Also the aspect that there has been a factory change, & so far no loco's have come from the new factory so they are a total unknown quantity.

What is seen at the various Exhibitions that Eureka has a stand at, is there is always a stack of "take them as they are" type models, that is they are said to be returns, & when you pay for them there is essentially a no warranty & no return policy regarding them, so hard to imagine there reputation based on that aspect.

If you order a model watch the different prices, & also the Eureka web/blog site regarding delivery as there is usually different prices for them when first announced, then pre delivery & after delivery prices. The first announced price usually offers around $100.00 off the projected after delivery price, you get that price if paid in full or use the time payment method.  The pre delivery price is just that & you get the model at around $50.00 cheaper.

One thing that I have noticed is that Ron does give details when a model is under production, then assembly & also when they have been loaded for shipment from China.  That gives you some few weeks to get an order in & pay for it at that time, you are more sure of the getting the model then without the long wait with your money tied up.  Also you will often see the pre-production models running at many of the exhibitions, he does not miss many of them.

Mark  That is very interesting, I guess I assumed that he had gone to each of the exh's down there this year at least the ones that he usually attended which were a few from memory.

I just checked his web site & it shows he will be at Caulfield, one at Canberra, Newcastle & Liverpool seems lighter than in the past.

Thanks! I guess that he would have faced some hard questions regarding certain models had he attended any more, he gets a bit of a beating up here from all accounts.

I suppose if there is nothing of any real interest for Victorian modellers not a lot of reason to head that way.

In fairness he was a regular attendee at Hobsons Bay so with that cancelled he obviously couldn't attend. I dont think you can simply attend an exhibition on the spur of the moment and that Eureka's attendance at shows would be planned well in advance.

Woops, I didn't go this year.  Not that I needed to see him as Eureka still has not delivered anything I have wanted.

I only raised his attendance at exhibitions as there was a statement made suggesting he went to most exhibitions in Australia but the truth is he goes to most exhibitions in Sydney which is only a small proportion of Australia.

Mark, I was of the understanding & that was owing to information given to me in the past by Victorian modellers who I know that Eureka attends most of the exhibitions in Victoria, maybe this year the amount of exhibitions he has attended has been down to those in the past.

From my observation & based on the AMRM listed diary for exhibitions, there appears to be more in Victoria than in NSW, especially in & around Melbourne.  OTOH, Sydney has a couple of quite small local ones that generally do not attract any of the majors, but on occasion they may in order to support the locals.  Outside of that, with the exception of Newcastle, the only ones in Sydney that usually has Eureka at is the Epping exhibition & Liverpool.

Those are really the primary NSW exhibitions that I know of that he attends, although he may go to the smaller  Wagga Wagga exhibition though, other than that Canberra has 2 exhibitions which he attends at least one of them, but in the past, he has certainly attended more in Victoria, & that is the basis of what I said, most.

Possibly, but maybe until some models for both states are delivered, attendances may be a bit nervously attended.   Hopefully when things improve in that area, it will it mean a less state of nervousness.

He has been seen at a lot of the major (Sandown, Caulfield, Hobsons Bay and Corio) exhibitions around Melbourne over the years but not at a lot of the minor ones.  How many does he do in Tas, SA, WA and Qld?  "Most" does not ring true.  The other China sourced suppliers don't do "most" either but the statement referred specifically to Eureka.
