Hi all. I haven't done much construction lately, but I've finally got around to getting a CN SD70M-2 by Athearn. I must say it's a great looking model.

It makes an SD50F look small. One wonders how the guts of the AC version was squeezed into the GT46ACe.

Just received my 3-pack (NTAF 17) of rail tank wagons from Southern Rail. They are brilliant and sit well with the 2 BP tankers I bought from SDS when they had their "not quite right" units selling singularly.

Very pleased with them and am also looking forward to getting my 3-pack of SDS models tankers (soon hopefully).

Not sure whether I'll sell-off all my el-cheapo tank wagons or just hang on to them.

I also received some Southern Rail tank wagons early last month, along with some more U-boats.
This made my Southern Rail collection quite a bit bigger, as you can see here;

Four packs of VGK wheat hoppers, 4 tank cars & three 4-car U sets plus one 2-car U set. Some NDHF sleeper wagons should arrive late this month.

and here are some shots of my purchases of 2012:

From right to left;
Auscision NGTY wheat hoppers, Austrains LHO & KP mail vans, Austrains FO coaches (x10!), Wuiske Tautliner & QLX vans (with some SDS blue NQOY container wagons behind), Southern Rail VGK wheat hoppers, more SDS NQOY container wagons, Powerline 48 with SDS milk tank wagons & 70's Tulloch tank wagons behind it, Bendigo T332 with Auscision WCR DT vans & two VR U vans with advertising.

It looks a lot but sad
ly I sold an awful lot of stuff last year. This year is already going a lot better, thankfully.

A closer view of my only two Australian outline loco purchases of 2012, the Bendigo T & the Powerline 48.

Another view of the wagons I purchased in 2012, with some Austrains containers on the SDS wagons.

With the invaluable assistance of my 12 year old son, I think I have successfully uploaded my first video on to Youtube. Let's see if this works:

http://youtu.be/I3WnZh8CR-Y

It took several hours to upload, so maybe I will have to revise the method if there is a next time.

Zak recorded this on his ipod touch.

hahaha....that was my (feeble) attempt to mitigate dust on top of my models. It doesn't really work, but I haven't bothered removing it.

I have, however, had success with dust removal by using a larger brush, of the type that hairdressers use to whisk-away the hair off your neck/ears before they remove the sheet. Very soft bristles and no worries about knocking small parts off the model.

Really shouldn't have, but managed to pick up (via FleaBay) an Austrains X54 in FA livery from a chap in the UK 10 mins on the train from where I work! Result!!

Now the only problem I have, is I cannot find a picture of it in FA livery on the Broad Gauge. Can anyone confirm if it ran like this or if it spent all its time in FA on the Standard Gauge?If so I'll have to source some new number plates and transfers for when its re-gauged.

X54 did spend time on BG with FA, before being sold to QR National. QR National placed in onto SG and then re-painted it into corporate livery.
