The final day of RailCorp (CityRail and Countrylink) - June 30, 2013

There would have to be very few people (not including those involved in their "design") who actually like them. I'm not too bothered about Countrylink changing to NSW Trainlink, but I always thought CityRail was a great brand name and I quite liked the logo too. "Sydney Trains" is just lame and unoriginal, and the logo sucks as does the uniform.

rip to #s****yrail and #cityfail.
hello to something (i'm sure the creative minds of the public would think of something)

anyways. i do have to agree with the unoriginality of the name. Waratah Railways with lotus flower logos would have been a better choice in my opinion

Does anyone actually like the new logos/brand names?
Braddo
Not so much the brand names or the logos, but I wuite like the new liveries, at least as they have been applied to the A and V sets.

So is the L7 being officially retired despite being around the state for some time yet?
When was it introduced, 1982?

So how is the Sydney Trains / NSW Trains thing going? Is is purely a cosmetic re-branding or are some real differences emerging? I notice the Sydney Trains website is just the old Cityrail site with the Inter-City services still included, but do Inter-City staff now feel they're in the same organisation as XPT/XPL staff? Have 'Countrylink' logos disappeared off rolling stock, tickets, cabin stationery and so on? Are there still 'Countrylink' buses, or do/will they get 'NSW Trains' logos?

The same signal boxes and signallers.
The same sets and crews, hope the new management structure filters down to the platforms and makes the public happier.

Station Managers have been abolished on the Sydney Trains side, some management changes, a new V Set livery (with internal refresh) which has so far been applied to two 4-car sets, all Waratahs I think now have the big Sydney Trains branding on carriage sides, CountryLink logos remain for now. Only in the past week have Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink branding been applied to rolling stock. The websites remain pretty much the same for now. New Sydney Trains-branded ticket stock should be out in two to three months to replace the still-used RailCorp ones.

Slight clarification, THREE 4-car V Sets have been refreshed so far. Otherwise, pretty spot on the money.

That's the first I've heard about it, which set was (lucky?) number three?

I saw V8 in the new livery the other day, so I assume it was number 3 (joining V1 and V16).

No, it was a chopper set - they're up to about five or six four car sets now, they seem to be getting through them reasonably quickly.
