It wasn't when I went through there today!

I must have mistaken my view but it looked back together.

Its really sad if they do not hook this together.

Am I correct in thinking that it will be possible to access the new Forth bridge by an easier curve from the Leith end than is currently the case?
Is the new bridge straight or curved?

Cheers,

DPJ
derwentparkjunc

By the looks the curve should be easier, but the bridge itself is straight.

Thanks.
To the best of my knowledge all bar one (Don R bridge) of TasRail's recent major bridge projects (inc Jordan R bridge) have also facilitated curvature improvements on bridge approaches.

Concrete sleepers laid out between Campania and Rhyndaston, also some stock piled at York Plains
  derwentparkjunc Chief Train Controller

Couple of weeks back I noticed a decent stack of concrete sleepers also at Antill Ponds.
Does it appear that the whole of the Campania-Rhyndaston section will have concrete sleepers installed?

Reduka - Tunnel
  derwentparkjunc Chief Train Controller

Ok, thanks. So a 30+ km section which ought to make a significant improvement to the reliability of this part of the route.
A pity there isn't also some curve easing associated with this project to make an even greater change in the standard of the route.

That would be Rekuna - the tunnel.
They were layed out up Rekuna bank last week on the Campania side.

There's also a massive stock pile of concrete sleepers at Dunorlan. Went through that way a few days ago and they were also doing drainage works.

Burnie has a shipment of sleepers due this Friday by MV Norfolk Guardian.

ETA / POB at 0800, lines at 0815 at BN7, AU BWT.

Are the concrete sleepers being dropped off at the various locations by rail?

As far as i know, no. They are on a truck, prob a TasRail truck with hiab type crane on it.

Hazell Bros semi tralier to the storage compounds then..... I'm not sure
  Amraks Junior Train Controller

Why would they reconnect it when Tasrail only goes as far as Burnie? Is there something we should know about?
tasrailfan

to answer that question. the council has pulled up the track so they should be putting it back together.

They haven't put it back together yet.

I dunno why that line isn't open they could be running a Sunday market train.
Penguin Market to Wynyard Also have the Wynyard foreshore market at the Wynyard railway institute hall instead of it being a wash out..

This would save a lot of old people from having to drive in terrible conditions. Razz

Amraks
I will tell you why the line isn't open: No freight traffic; poor track condition; Tasrail are not accredited or insured to use it other than care & maintenance.

I will tell you why there cannot be a Sunday market train; no insurance, no accredited operator, no access agreement, line closed (due to reasons noted above).

So now you know......

I understand that
but these greenies talk about how we need to attract tourism. maybe this would be a attraction if a creditable operator came by.

A creditable operator? What is required is an accredited operator, plus a lot of trackwork plus a shipload of cash...

To put it another way, there would need to be a *lot* of tourists to make such a venture pay its way.

The first span of the old Leven river bridge has been removed. I haven't seen or heard how they're being removed or what they're doing with them though.

My misses was saying it was noise the other day while removing one span. Spose pneumatic hammer on a excavator?

I do believe that I saw a gathering of concrete sleepers next to the line at Spreyton behind the Racecourse.  They have only recently finished work in this area after they cleaned the ballast, they undertook large scale drainage work.

Started laying concrete sleepers up the bank

A couple of track maintenance machines appear to have stabled over night the past two evenings in Hobart yard.
Any observations about where they have been operating?

At Montrose on Monday afternoon
  derwentparkjunc Chief Train Controller

Ok, thanks.
I think machines were in Hobart yard again this morning, so it might be reasonable to assume that much work is being done relatively close to Hobart.
Would Brighton be used as a base for track work further north?

Yes, but sometimes Rogerville still gets used. Then obviously Lowdina is the next available location.
