AMRA Caulfield Exhibition

G'day all, couldn't see a thread regarding what everyone thought of the exhibition from the weekend so i'll start one.

First of all, i had never been to this particular exhibition before and i must say it was fantastic.

So many great layouts on display, found myself spending most my time at the Victorian prototype layouts.

The standout favourite for me was the Moe-Walhalla layout, it was great to see my hometown in HO scale with such brilliant detail.

The manufacturers and vendors at the exhibition had some great models on sale and samples for us patrons to check out. The Eureka R Class sample looked very nice indeed, also the SDS models U Van was one i was keen to check out and can not wait till they are made available.

Managed to pick up a BRM T class and some much needed storage boxes from the gentlemen at Auscision who you can imagine were very popular first thing Saturday morning. And grabbed a pack of V/line Vlex louvre vans from On Track Models.

Unfortunately my time there was cut short as my son started to develope a temperature but aside from that a great exhibition and well done to the AMRA for putting it all together.

Regards, Andy.

Some pics from the weekend.  (Saturday morning).

The exhibition was busy as usual with some interesting bargains from Auscision and also Austrains.  Picked up a VR X class at Austrains for $200.00.  Thought that was a good bargain!

Weathered T classes from Auscision looked very nice and I witnessed some frenzied buying.

Some pics from the weekend well really some happy snaps!

Always happy to see the Mildura layout

Was a HUGE exhibition again, and certainly a LOT to look at this year! Well done to to everyone that organised it and made it happen, a huge effort!

I'm sure I missed seeing plenty, one day (all day!) just isn't enough time to see everything and catch up with everyone!

I've got a bunch of photos to get off the camera's CF card and resize/upload...

Popped in for a few hours on Sunday, was a great show this year.

Took a few snaps and some vids of a few faves including Altbahn, North West Passage, Mildura, Moe - Wilhalla, Brick Built Trains, The Hummocks (sorry - the pics were a bit tricky with the night scene), Grizzly Flats and Eyarth (nicely detailed but not a lot of action)

I've put them up at Google here

cheers, John.

Eyarth and Mildura were the best models of railways there, both single track with staging at both ends (sound familiar David).

Lego had plenty of colour and movement but that's not what I want to see.

I quite liked MOE.  It was the first time I had seen this layout.

Just flew back into Sydney after a fun 5 days in Melbourne. Had a most enjoyable time at the exhibition (as I always do in Melbourne), from helping at setup time on the Friday to close-down time on the Sunday afternoon. Alas, after the three days my legs will need at least a week to recover as I dare say will many of the exhibitors!

What I like about exhibitions such as these is the comraderie that prevails. I've been going down to the Melbourne exhibitions for quite a few years now, and it never changes.

So I'd just like to again say a big thank you to the organisers who always make me feel welcome ... and the free pass I always unexpectedly get!

Cheers,
Allan Brown

P.S I liked Eyerth!

was a good weekend indeed.  The On30 at Brunel Hobbies caught my eye well and truly.

As for the layout, all good but cannot single out any. Did not spend too much time away from the DVR stand.

The packup was well organised and made it a breeze to pack up and get out.

Untill next year !

It would seem your clue is in plain view. Anyone else spot it? I certainly did while I was there Saturday.

Interesting... I did see what I think we're talking about, and refreshed my memory seeing that photo.

I'm sure the idea of what it is will weigh quite heavily on those who know... Wink
