With an attitude like that, just surrendering to the gatecrashers makes you part of the problem.

Having an attitude like Abbott doesn't help matters either.

Yes it would. Under the Howard government – boat arrivals were almost zero. Under the Rudd/Gillard/Rudd government – boats are flooding in. Abbott intends to put into place policies that work.

The problem is, people smuggling criminals are flooding in large numbers of undocumented people, and some here want them admitted into Australia at face value.

Australia must determine who is admitted to this country and Australia alone.

There was only one time with the current government where a boat came directly to Australia, and that was in Geraldton. Every single one of those Asylum Seekers, were they accepted, would have been documented. All other Asylum Seekers arrive at Christmas Island, where they are processed... meaning they are documented. If the only problem that you have with Asylum Seekers is the fact they aren't in fact documented. That could be very simply fixed, just by documenting them.

Face value? How are any of these refugees not of face value?

Well, that is kind of what is happening now isn't it?  Line up, get your Centrelink number and off you go........your documented; and look at the problems that we are facing.  What the feel good international Socialists don't understand is that not everyone has good intentions or cherishes the same values as the majority of Australians do like freedom and democracy - remember 9/11...........Sarah and Christine?

The simple fact is that the Australian Government does not have any way of finding out who these people really are and will probably never be able to.  The problems associated with this type of immigration are many, and being very careful here because some cases are presently before the courts - it has been witnessed that the behaviour of some of these people is less than savoury. If these people have nothing to hide or are not trying to hoodwink the Government, why are they throwing away their identity?

KRudd and Juliar have exposed Australia and its people to incredible danger through their inaction and reckless policies just to appease the Greens and the international socialists.  You wouldn't get into the USA like these people are doing!

How many of the asylum seekers in the past 6 years have had any form of identification with them??  I would guess none.

This is the angle the people smugglers should be pushing for their clients.   Produce ID to show that you are not a "baddie" and you spend less time locked up on Christmas Island.   I could see more sympathy if asylum seekers show they aren't criminals or terrorists.   It's the unknown that many Australians distrust.

I realize that many genuine refugees might not have or be in a position to grab their ID before they flee, but that doesn't mean no ID makes you genuine.

How many terrorists have the Labor government let in? NONE. That is because terrorists are not so stupid as to risk not making it to Australia in a sinking ship, and then spend five years in a detention centre, to finally realise they have no reason to blow up Australia. If someone did actually want to terrorise us, they would fly someone over on a plane, a much quicker, easier, and legal way to go about things.

So how do all the 'illegal' Mexicans get into the USA?

And if no checks are being done as you claim, why are so many of the current refugees coming into Australia locked up in Villawood (and other such places) with very little recourse to appeal?

Good old Jamie wrong again as usual. Maybe he should stick to his delusional rants about freight trains burning down the Adelaide Hills.

So, after last night, maybe one can go on holiday to Bali, construct a few dodgy boats, name them refugee1, 2 etc, then let it be known they are for sale and wait for the Australian Government to come rushing in to buy them.

One way to pay for ones holiday.

Somehow, I think that promise might be the first to get the chop.

I understood it as if someone was approached to use boat they contact the Aussies who catch the smugglers and as a payment buy their boat for above market price   That way the poor fisherman gets money anyway the smugglers are caught and boat people stay there

There is no incentive for poor fisherman to don in smuggler as at the moment he loses a sale

Buying up the boats makes sense and will save money because the West Connect won't need boats only lanes.

Are boat arrivals now an official government secret?

Scott Morrison says on the one hand that the new system will be open and transparent but then (apparently) directs the relevant departments not to talk to the media.

So has A Bot stopped them yet, or has Ruppert just directed his media outlets to Stop reporting arrivals?

As far as I'm aware (from the article) Scott Morrison's mouth-piece has said "No comment from anyone until an official announcement on 'Sovereign Borders Policy' later next week" so we don't know if it's a new policy or what the story is... just no information at all.  So, as with many other things, despite the atmosphere of absolute crisis a few weeks ago it suddenly isn't an urgent problem requiring public attention any more.

However I have to admit, if I was in power and one of my 'five pillars of trust' was to stop the boats, the first thing I would do would be to try and suppress information so the plebs don't know whether I've been successful or not, after all 'stop the boats' is just a slogan - if the boats can somehow be removed from public consciousness then that's the same outcome.   You could probably use the excuse that you are trying to discourage others from coming or national security grounds.

The really gob-smacking thing for me is that when I posted that link this morning I fully expected to come home tonight and find a full-on vigorous defence of that political decision from our usual spokes-people, but instead?  The sound of crickets chirping.

This is one of the biggest issues with the Liberal's mineset, why do anything properly when you can just cover things up with the help of geriatric media moguls. Do they even attempt to do anything properly ?

IMHO screw the boat people, I'm not stupid enough to ever believe a few people in leaky boats is even a minor election issue, nor would I ever decide who to vote for on such a minor matter.

ps: if I ever want to know if another boat arrived, I have plenty of people I can ask directly.
