Fortnightly in arrears - pay period goes from Sunday to Saturday.

Officially, you get paid on Thursday, but it depends on who you bank with - could be as early as very late Tuesday evening, could be Wednesday, or perhaps Thursday (personally mine is late Tuesday night, not sure of anyone who has to wait til Thursday though!)

Payslips are available online as of Tuesday afternoon (usually), paper ones are put in your file usually on Wednesday.

Anyone know if Metro have a maximum age for new drivers?
Of course I know there is no official maximum age but do they take on trainees over 45 or do they aim for a younger crowd?

Hi everyone. I'm new here as I just found this forum over the weekend. Found it very interesting and informative. Especially made me not feel so alone as I, too, have applied for a Trainee Train Driver position and am on the Merit list waiting for "the call". That no contact or updated info while we wait is hard. It would have been great if there was a monthly, or so, update provided to us that wait. To know whether there are still places left (and how many) or how many classes remain to fill would. Good or bad news - either way.
PS: Can those that have progressed to ACs or classes, please let me know how you guys are going. It's good hearing about your journeys so far Smile

Hi guys,  new to the forum. Does anyone
know when metro will be taking more intakes for drivers? Its something I would love to try out for. Also I have a mechanical trade background,  do you think this will assist me? Love the forum and reading up on a few things.
Cheers

Sorry, I have been so flat out with the course I hadn't been on since September eeep!
The course is good, VERY stressful; especially for someone like myself that is HORRIBLE in exams and studying, but I am getting there slowly but surely Smile

After being on the merit list for so long after passing on the first AC because of a holiday that never happened (whoops). Happy to report I will attend the AC on 26/02 for the class to start in May..

Very excited that the process is almost over

So that'll be another 100/150 drivers... Geeze, how many do they need?!

After missing out last year on applying by one day, I'll certainly be jumping on early this time around. Will keep my eyes open on the 24th.

Just wondering if somebody could give a breakdown on the application process, and rough time frames involved? I heard that it could take months from application time to face-to-face contact with somebody at Metro. Cheers.

Hi benji,

Simply its online application, then online psychometric testing, then a telephone interview, then another online test about safety,  then an information session presented by metro staff, followed by the assessment Centre. You must be successful at every stage to progress. If you make it to the info session you are on the merit list, which is where they draw people from for the assessment center.

From application to info session is about 1 month or so. From there it could be a very long wait for the call if indeed you get one for the assessment center
