Dear All
Please be advised that there is an Open Day at Gundagai Railway Station this Saturday 7th September (we realise this day is the same day as the Federal Election but we booked it first!)
The Open Day is expected to start at 10am and finish at 4pm. The GHR day is proposed at the moment to have the following events
- museum plans presentation to visitors,
- detailed guided and self guided tours of the station and yard for visitors,
- audiovisual display of a former NSWGR steam train driver who drove on the Cootamundra to Tumut branch line sharing his experiences.
- membership forms available for people to sign up,
- a BBQ available for a eat/drink.
Featured displays lined up for the Open Day currently booked include -
-
Tumbra Rail, Ladysmith station - A member from the Tumba rail organisation will have their own NSWGR TIC Mk 60 Motorised Trike connected to a Light Weight Gang Trailer displayed on some portable railway track, along with display and photo boards.
-
Former railway station staff – John King the former Gundagai station Assistant Station Master in 1970-72 period will be in attendance and acting as a tour guide and will be happy to share his experiences from when he worked at the station. Other former staff may also be coming.
-
Tumut Branch Line modellers (TBL) – A locally based railway modelling collection which recreates the Tumut, Gilmore and nearly completed Batlow and Gundagai stations on a large model display layout. TBL will hopefully have a static display of model railway locomotives and rollingstock as was once used on the Tumut branch line. See more at https://www.facebook.com/TumutBranchLine?ref=ts&fref=ts
