New Car Set FN3 and other V/Line fleet changes

    Set FN5 is now refurbished and has BZN266 attached!! Currently docked in Platform 5 at Southern Cross.
    Leaves only N18 left to be refurbished and still in old colours.

    Just Wandering, is there any plan for the V/locity's to get repainted into the colour scheme which are on the newer ones?

    Not at this stage I believe. The newer VLocity units also have different seating upholstery and interior colour scheme so I guess that V/Line wouldn't bother at this stage.

    I would hope not, the earliest V'locities are still less than 10 years old, they shouldn't need any of that work for at least 5 years, if not 10.

    Vlocity repainting will be interesting, when the new order for cars are delivered from 3VL52 onwards I would suspect that another PTV inspired livery will be created, however the trailer order  will see if repaints  are going to occur, the first "new" trailer 1300 to go in unit VL 00 will have to be in the latest livery, to match cars in VL 00, then units 1301- 1318 in the purple haze livery , unless the 3 car sets they are placed in are also repainted and upgraded at this time.

    V/Line must have some leftover cash in the 2012-13 budget allocation in recent weeks N 474 & N 459 have been repainted, and N 463 which is in for a CCO is also being repainted, leaving only N 465 & N 472 in the old livery.

    Some more Z cars are to be returned to service in coming weeks , months or years ,  from the list , BZN 252, BZN 267 , BZN 272 and BTN 259 are the cars I am lead to beleive

    Sprinter 7021 is a recent SSR Bendigo exam unit, repainted as well.

    Y 156 failed at Geelong the other week and was despatched to Newport for Bogie repairs, replaced in Geelong with Y 163.  Y 129 has been forwarded to Newport for exam.

    SG set SN 15 and PCJ 492 have received a full overhaul at GEMCO , Dynon.

    The current order for 40 more V/Locity cars is to provide an additional number of 3 car sets, plus insert middle cars in all remaining two car sets .
    All cars are to be delivered by the time of RRL opening in 2015 .

    SN15- This set was pushed into service early due to a fault with SN1 and exam. all 3 SN sets should be in service mid next week.

    Then I guess they will move onto repainting the remaining P class. P14, P16, P17 and P18 still in the old blue livery. (With P13 on SG and not likely to be a priority)

    So how many N Sets are four car sets and how many are five car sets? I am assuming that there are no more three car sets.

    The current situation is a bit fluid owing to the initial withdrawal of 22 Z cars and more recently progressive re-introduction of some of these Z cars pending arrival of new bogie frames for these cars .

    IIRC there are currently a couple of 5 car sets running Shepparton and Warrnambool, a few 4 car sets, but mostly 3 car sets as a temporary measure .  

    Standard gauge wise there are three  x 5 car N sets running the Albury service  .

    When all the Z cars are returned to service it is understood the intention is to make the fleet up as 4 and 5 car sets with the 15 BZN and 4 BTN cars incorporated in each consist so as to provide for wheelchair spaces and also wheelchair accessible toilets .

    N19 now running as FN19... BZN267 is back, repainted too! so its also the first VLP3 car to be repainted. BZN267 was an ex WCR BZ car and is to an extent still non standard to most BZNs.

    Hi all, Standard gauge V/line locos.

    N 469 has been removed from standard gauge from today due to rough riding issues.

    N463 is the replacement locomotive and was placed onto standard gauge today.

    N 470 was damaged after hitting tree near avenel on the weekend and is in shops under repair to damaged bogie and fuel tank.

    I notice BZN267 has white all over the bogies. Are these old frames?

    Yes the white painted bogies are the original bogies. Painted white to make it easier to monitor any cracks .

    VLP apparently still stuffing around re  ordering the replacement bogies from Kiwi land.

    Like the Bairnsdale line re-opening everything at VLP these days moves with all the speed of a crippled snail .

    Hi. I had a good look at the fresh bogies under the BZN 252 at Southern Cross. On the axle boxes they are stamped SKF then NSWR. These were not the original bogies on this car and look different to normal Z car bogies. I don't know where they came from. Richter.

    N469 is running the 1631 Seymour this arvo, back on the broad gauge.
    N463 went out on a test today on the SG, air horns on the West end have been replaced.
    A60 was seen chugging around Dynon.
    BZN252 has SKF, VR boxes on the west end bogie A side
