Casula Hobbies PCX

Hi All,

Joe from Casula Hobbies sent me a few Pics of their upcoming RTR NSW PXC, Not sure if these have been seen elsewhere, but Joe said it's OK to post.  Joe told me there is more details to be added (mainly brass etches etc), it looks to be a very nice model coming from them, and knowing the research team should be an accurate model. At the moment the models are due around the 2nd half of the year (2013) and  will be sold as a 4 pack though I believe that Joe/Casula Hobbies may split the packs as they currently do for other models they sell.

I have no involvment with this model, nor Casula Hobbies other than as a satisfied customer & a friend.

I must've been in luck. I was at the shop the morning after those photos were taken and Joe pointed out the sample lingering in their display case next to the DL loco I was purchasing.

The model looks very impressive in the flesh and I reckon you are spot on about them being willing to split 4 packs for you. The ability to buy single items of rolling stock from certain manufacturers 4 packs is one of the reasons I love Casula Hobbies (no I'm not affiliated with them either).

I have been waiting for the PCX/NPCFs RTR or in a kit for years! these will be perfect for my Murwillimbah Flyash traffis I run on my layout.

THANKYOU Casula Hobbies!

I only hope they will be coming out in the later Freightcorp livery.

Is there any idea of a price as yet?

Well Done ! Casula Hobbies,

A great commitment to produce a RTR model with such a low number of wagons produced of the prototype.

As of today Five (5) NPCF wagons painted white are still sitting in Clyde yard. Here's hoping that Casula provide the Fielders NPCF and CSR Vinyl NPSF options in this run of models.

Now will the ARX Cement hopper be done by someone in the future.......?

Catchpoint

Joe told me he does want to do those versions, not sure what he has in the way of photos so if anyone has any suitable photos I'm sure he would be interested.

Now that would be nice too - would certainly interest me & would fit right in my version of the Mudgee line.

Cheers Alex.

The only pictures of the Fielders and CSR variants that I know of are on the website as mentioned by Poath Junction above, among the photos on this site are many listed as being part of the "casula hobbies collection" so they already maybe aware of these particular ones.

Like I said previously its strange that the PCX is being done with less than 15 of the prototype having been built in lieu of other wagons. (I am not complaining am very happy the PCX is being done). In regards to the ARX hopper, I am not on Farcebook but perhaps modellers could vote for an ARX hopper on the Auscision call for model suggestions.

There's an issue with the information on the NSW Rollingstock site in that's it not completely accurate.

The wagons were introduced into traffic between February and July 1973 as PCX's.

They were recoded to PCC in November & December 1975.

They were recoded NPCF in the 1980 reclassification.

In April 1992, one wagon NPCF 12057 was recoded NGNF 12057.

I don't have a date when it was recoded back to NPCF but it was after 1996.

All 10 wagons are still currently on the books at Pacific National.

As is the CSR variant the NPSF.  NPSF 3491 B is currently at Bathurst along with 5 other NPCF's.

You can not easily convert a NPCF to a NPSF as the NPSF is 1 metre shorter in length and only has 3 discharge chutes not 4 as on the NPCF.

I hope this helps,

Peebster

I suggest to take a visit there today, Joe has a big display of them just waiting to be purchased. I was there yesterday and I must say they look great.

My pre-orders arrived in Melbourne via mail on Friday.

Anyone after some prototype pics for weathering purposes will find the following blogs invaluable.

Picked mine up, really impressed with them. Excellent detail, and very free-rolling. Now to learn how to weather them.

Happy Modelling!
