Eureka Blog Update

  5919o Station Staff

PS: The Eureka team will be journeying north to the factory on the 8th of September. It is likely that there will be a major announcement when the team returns and there will certainly be up-dates on current projects.

I wonder what the announcement was and updates

I'm guessing Liverpool would've got in the way, maybe, it is a pretty big show.

Saying that, I'm hanging out to hear updates on certain projects! Very Happy

The only thing I am waiting on are the SAR 'O' wagons, in the AMRM they are now listed as "2014 delivery",  FFS, not happy Jan.
I am oh so close to cancelling my order and support the local company (Orient Express) who have stock on their shelves, the 'interior detail' aspect is not looking like it is worth the wait.

I should but I probably won't, I've paid for them and the railway isn't ready for them yet, and I've waited nearly 3 years so what's a bit more time, but I just had to have a grizzle (I'm that sort of person) when I saw the date pushed out again with a very non committal '2014', it makes me think that they have no idea either and are just covering all bases.
And I suppose I get a bit smeg with all the manufacturers who aren't delivering but our local shop seems to be able to pop models out with very little fan fare and no time warp promises, some criticize the level of detail but I reckon the OER models are excellent bang for the buck, and they are here, but I am getting of track, I apologise.
But I will be keeping my money in MY bank in future and take my chances on a model being available on delivery, the VR tank wagons are, if the manufacturer has to wait for my money he might hurry the process along  more!! let the flaming begin.

PS I won't grizzle again, honest      Laughing

Well if you were able to attend Liverpool then you could have asked Ron about all the projects.

For the record, I own five Eureka models but like everyone, (including Ron) I am frustrated by the delays. I did ask Ron on Saturday how his trip to China went and when the Eureka blog would be updated. He told me the trip was good and he is impressed with the scale of development in China. The blog would be updated soon, Liverpool got in the way but no further information was gleaned. A friend of mine who is a VR modeler, drooled over the K and R samples which were sitting next to the 40 and 50 Class locos.

Everyone would no doubt be frustrated at the delays, longer things take the longer it takes to get them out to the people and longer to get a return on investment - they ain't cheap to start-up and produce!

Hopefully the update brings 'good news' on many fronts! Very Happy I'm interested to see if the WCR R classes are far off, well, besides the other numbers, of course, that's a given Laughing

Has anyone received their VR TW wagons?

I note the Eureka website mentions they had arrived and should all be posted out by late August-early Sept. Yet to receive mine.

Have called Eureka twice and emailed three times with no reply as yet.

Curious as to whether they are on sale at the show before the fully paid pre-orders are delivered.

cheers,

The Oil Tanks were on sale at "the show" a couple of months back.  None seen classed as TW though.

Certainly couldn't answer why you haven't received yours, mine arrived a while ago.
Must be the first time I've received a Eureka order before someone else, normally I'm last (it feels like)!
Here's a shot of two of mine.

Has anybody got any classed TW?  They are listed as TW on the Eureka web site but all I have seen are Oil Tanks (OT).  The OT classification only lasted 'til the early '60s.  The TW code replaced it until the introductions of 4 letter codes.  Also the handbrake square is on the wrong end.

Good news is that Eureka has finally delivered it's first VR product, just not the one announced 8 years ago.

Thanks all.

My final email did get a prompt response from Ron at Eureka.

Apparently my pack had been returned due to wrong address (I had advised of my change of address in Dec 2011). He said he'd just re-sent it to my correct address. I expect to receive it shortly. If it doesn't turn up next week I'll have to email/call again.

Simular thing happened to me last year with the HUB car delivery even though I has sent him an email six months earlier with the title "CHANGE OF POSTAL ADDRESS". Luckily I had an Australia Post mail redirect in place.

Like Ethan, my OT wagon pack arrived today as Ron had stated. The wagons are excellent and I'm happy - so are my sons as we split the package and got one wagon each.

Bit of a disappointment there Wolfman.  You had me thinking there was something exciting announced.  Ah well.  It is a good thing to get that perennial blockage out of the system.  Sort of like a good -- nah let's not go there!
