Why do BikeSA need another non road crossing?Because the nearest safe crossings of the river to that area are at the Torrens Lake weir and Frome Road. Everything else between is not fit for use as an efficient transport route due to moron motorists and dumb dog walkers.
Given that it both starts and ends in incorrect locations on both sides of the river... The northern end would be more sensibly terminated on the northern side of Memorial Drive, and the southern end should terminate at the Convention Centre/Festival Theatre 'plaza' in line with glass footbridge toward ARS... But we wouldn't want to be too sensible about these things. The northern end is in the right spot. War Memorial Drive is already closed to through traffic before/during/after Strikers T20 games and Australia home games to manage traffic in the area effectively, nothing will be changing there any time soon. The bridge is better off landing at street level and being fit for use on non-match days as a link to the Torrens Linear Park from the other side of the river than it would be flying over the road and making linear park users cross the road at times when it is open.
Not even DPTI believe they are running late enough, now they need to fudge the dates to make themselves look later...Either that or it's a very good CGI impression of what the lift installation will look like in two weeks' time.
The reporting on the system development has become Orwellian. Check your calendar to make sure the years is not 1984.Some might approve of that - it would mean an open-air station at Adelaide, Red Hens and Bluebirds running beyond Belair and the biggest controversy around development being whether the airport would be up to the logistical challenges involved with hosting the first Grand Prix next year.
Good news everyone, the rosters for the reopening of the Seaford Line to Noarlunga have been released to the relevant parties for the 6 week prior to implementation consultation. So not long now gents! So November it is?
This just means that 6 weeks is the minimum time to trains back, not the maximum time...
Not quite true, they have been known to go around the 'rules' regarding posting new master rosters and set workings, and implement sooner than 6 weeks. In any instance, late November seems to be the case for the resumption of Noarlunga services. How many colleagues do you have that have never seen Tonsley?
Line handover/training/familiarisation for qualified drivers will occur before the line is open to the public.
So it is a wait and see this space moment really!
6 weeks make it December doesn't it?
I'm not holding my breath by any means.
How many colleagues do you have that have never seen Tonsley?Major changes have been made to these lines Aaron, the flyover at Goodwood being one unknown out there, the swapping of the tracks between Adelaide and Goodwood is another along with new signal placements and works at the junction for the Tonsley line are but just a few things that all drivers will have to be taught and shown before they can drive a railcar on this run. It is called learning the route and is a must if no foul ups are to be made in running. The line itself could almost be counted as a totally new line driver wise that is. So a lot of route learning and retraining looks to be the go here for all drivers.

THE State Government is refusing to assure commuters the Noarlunga rail line will be open by early December, members of a southern rail group say.
The Noarlunga Line Commuters 2013 Facebook group met with Transport Minister Tom Koutsantonis and Transport Department chief executive Rod Hook last Friday, October 11.
Members used the meeting to seek assurances the line would reopen by the end of November, as previously stated by the government.
However, group member Sarah Thomas said Mr Koutsantonis failed to provide clear answers.
"I asked the Minister to confirm the date of the reopening as 60 days from the end of September, which would mean trains would be back on line by the end of November," Ms Thomas, of Onkaparinga Hills, said. "He did not answer the question but smiled and nodded."
Ms Thomas said commuters were frustrated by the lack of information and demanded the department be "more transparent".
Fellow group member Derek Finch, of Hove, said he was pleased Mr Koutsantonis was meeting regularly with the group to listen to its concerns.
However, he said members were increasingly annoyed with the lack of action on key issues, particularly setting a date for the line's reopening. "We feel our concerns are not being met with the gravity it deserves," Mr Finch said.
In an emailed statement, a Transport Department spokeswoman said services were expected to be back on track 45-60 days from the original reopen date of September.
"While (the Transport Department) cannot provide a specific date, we are confident that services will return by December," the spokeswoman said.
The group had asked the Transport Department to investigate an express bus service from Seaford.
Ms Thomas said department staff told the group at last week's meeting, it would consider an express service if more than 20 people used the existing Seaford to Noarlunga shuttle.
A user group will be formed to discuss timetables for the electric trains in the coming months.
Quite a few actually, I think the number is between 20 and 30. I've seen a list, its a growing board since it has been closed so long.David, this is the answer I was looking for, I know it to be about 30 drivers hired since Tonsley closed, but I wanted to get it from a(nother) driver...

So Mr Jumbo, training for Tonsley, two sighting trips for you guys and six for the newbies? - Not a completely new line David.
What's the training schedule likely to look like? Driver trainers, Seaford depot guys, seniors, everyone else?
It really depends on which method they choose. Six for newbies definitely, and that is six that they must drive themselves. Previously qualified drivers will probably have one trip with a Driver Trainer, or maybe two if they need it.. . . . . . . .
