I am not sure if all of the operators were asked. The ones that were however, from what I've heard, wanted to but were too busy.
Those operators who were asked either could not provide crews on the day or were concerned about liability issues regarding providing a locomotive for a public event. Having said this, the reps from the Companies approached made every effort to make a loco available, but in the end were not able to accomodate.
The Y class is not operational - it's Paxman engine needs considerable work - it won't do a full revolution when barring-over so somethings amiss. Never say never though - its in good condition mechanically and is complete except for the auxilliary generator which is on loan to Boulder Loopline for their Y class.
Also, an update on numbers through the gate - over 1300 paying customers, and that figure does not include the hundreds of under-4's who didin't have to pay an entrance fee. A very successful day.
