Two questions
1. Are there adequate overnight stabling facilities at Sale or will evening arrivals return to Traralgon and head back to Sale in the morning?
The train used to stable in the Sale yard between 1993 and 2004 when the Bairnsdale train didn't run. I think they used to stable the train in the yard as there were still freight trains running then. With no other trains running these days, the train could just be marshalled ready for the next day and stabled overnight in the platform (as happens at Bairnsdale, although there is security lighting provided there). I have wondered why the current track circuit testing train is stabled on a lonely and dark point at the far eastern end of Traralgon Yard rather than in the security of the well lit station precinct. It must be tempting to the local graffiti idiots.
2. Will the Sunday Vlocity to Sale also resume this week? Prior to the March closure VLocities were banned from the Traralgon - Sale section.
Sprinters and loco-hauled services had stabled overnight at Sale prior to services being reinstated to Bairnsdale in 2004. So I don't see why it would be an issue now. I've not been into Sale yet, but I'd assume that a train was there last night for this mornings up service.

No, the morning up Bairnsdale commenced from Traralgon this morning.Yeah, I saw the report on WIN news earlier.

Yeah, I saw the report on WIN news earlier.Quite the unbelievable outcome wasnt it.
It was followed by news on the "outcome" of the Kerang incident 6 years ago. If what I heard was right, then the equivalent would be a driver going through a red light at a pedestrian crossing, killing pedestrians, is acquitted and all pedestrians are to undergo better training to use the crossing and carry first aid supplies in case they are hit by a vehicle.
Does my comment about Australia being a 3rd world country ring any bells? You have no idea what your talking about...![]()
Slightly off topic, but the Kerang report mentions, in part, "better training for train drivers and conductors". What about better training for road users?Yeah, I saw the report on WIN news earlier.

And just how would that have prevented a truck driver from ignoring the crossing signals and hitting the train? That was the point of me likening it to someone running a red light at a pedestrian crossing and blaming the pedestrians for not having better training.Slightly off topic, but the Kerang report mentions, in part, "better training for train drivers and conductors". Interesting media release from Victoria's Minister for Public Transport there was no mention of the former coalition Kennett government that axed trains to Bairnsdale in 1992, then re-instated by the Bracks Labor government in 2004 .Government spin at It's best.

Mike.
(Passenger trains beyond Sale ceased In 1993 and Goods trains beyond Sale In 1996)
The weekly goods to Bairnsdale was culled in October 2004 but the weekday Fastrack to Sale
did last till 1996. FA introduced the log train to Hillside in 1999, but that was its own initiative
