You guys simply don't realise that people actually buy houses next to train lines so that it isn't too far for them to get to the station.
You should realise that when you blow your horn/whistle you are most likely to be disturbing your very own customers. The ones that pay your wages.
Have a look at this poor guys house, it's so close to the train track it even casts a shadow over it.

There's no need to use your horn/whistle to warn people your coming. Do you think people are dumb enough to cross a train track without looking. And what do you think those flashing lights at the crossing are for, there not just there to make a crossing look pretty.
It about time a TV show with a bit of credit has brought up this issue.
