Inconsiderate train drivers

I hope all you train drivers are now happy that you have got yourselves onto a highly rated national TV show.

You guys simply don't realise that people actually buy houses next to train lines so that it isn't too far for them to get to the station.
You should realise that when you blow your horn/whistle you are most likely to be disturbing your very own customers. The ones that pay your wages.

Have a look at this poor guys house, it's so close to the train track it even casts a shadow over it.

There's no need to use your horn/whistle to warn people your coming. Do you think people are dumb enough to cross a train track without looking. And what do you think those flashing lights at the crossing are for, there not just there to make a crossing look pretty.
It about time a TV show with a bit of credit has brought up this issue.
You should all feel ashamed of yourselves.

Yes.

There is absolutely a need to warn people of my approach in a train at a crossing, it's what the horn is for and certainly laid out in black and white in the rule book.

However, I'm sympathetic to the people such as those depicted in the video, perhaps a compromise can be found with Metro and their drivers.

After 10 reads, I'm going with sarcasm. The bit about "a TV show with a bit of credit" settled it for me. Well done Mr Biggles. As an actor, that bloke makes a very good inner-city, soy-latte sipping nimby.

Yeah, describing A Current Affair as a show with a bit of a credit nearly had me over-act like the twit in the clip and spit coffee every where. ACA has never been able to be described as having 'credit'.

Hell, they can't even hire a decent actor for the job, that guy was bottom rung.

All I can say is BWAAHAHAHAH!!! Didn't residents near Riversdale try to change things for the same reason and fail miserably? And I'm sure ACA will jump at the chance to get more stories from Frankston line residents once x-traps start revenue service there.

As of today, I think it's time to replace every horn on the Siemens, Comeng as well as the DMU fleet (in particular, that pathetic "squeak" that VLocity cars tend to have). At least one Siemens is apparently going around with an X'Trapolis horn, so maybe this is the start of things to come.

ACA has become a parody of itself.

I also think it's time we used the whistle as much as they do in the US.

Not seeing the story (that is what it needs to be called, coming from ACA) I can only go by comments here.
With the regular incident of road traffic, including pedestrian and cyclists, entering into crossings while the lights and bells AND booms are down, the horn needs to be used more.

Also, buy a house near a rail line, expect trains.

The guy lives between two stations and two level crossings, what does he expect?

That's quite silly. You need a horn when approaching a level crossing. He might've lived there before the trains as stated above, but regardless of that, you still need the horn when you approach a level crossing. If he or anybody living on the trackside have issues with noise, then perhaps they should probably do the following:

1. Write a letter to Metro explaining the supposed horns being sounded on purpose.
2. Find a home away from the trackside and in a quieter part of the suburb.
3. Stop whinging because that's where they decided to reside in the first place, and Metro can't change their policies because of a few people don't like it.

Not sure if you're being serious or sarcastic, but I don't think he's lived there since the 1880s.
