Decoder won't respond to controller

My HO Proto 1000 Budd RDC is fitted with a Quantum Titan-U decoder and is currently not responding to my NCE PowerCab controller.

A similar thing happened some months ago when, for no obvious reason, all the right engine sounds for acceleration and deceleration were being produced but the unit just sat still.  After a long search on the web I found a fix that required re-setting a CV or two but I didn't keep (or have lost) the website address and can't find that source again.

The Budd hasn't been used for a few weeks and today, again for no obvious reason, it won't respond to the controller and even the engine sounds aren't responding - the unit just continues to idle.

Any suggestions on a fix would be welcome, also any suggestions as to why the unit slips into this unresponsive mode and what can be done to stop that happening.

Thanks.

When you initially obtained the model, did you do any CV programming out of the box save for changing the loco number from the default of 3?

Sounds like your loco is in disconnect mode.
At some stage you may have pressed F9 twice which activates disconnect mode which is you hear all sounds but no movement.

When in disconnect mode double press F9 again will enter standby mode.

When in standby mode double press F9 again will enter shut down mode.

Double press F6 when in any of the above modes will deactivate it and your loco will work again.

You hit the nail right on the head, Captain U.  Thanks very much!

Double press on F6 and away it went, responding to the controller as usual.  I must have unknowingly pressed a function button twice, which would explain why the problem suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

In reply to Brian:  Yes, I've done a fair bit of reconfiguring the CVs to adjust speeds, sounds, and so on, but that's all been successful, and when the problem appeared the CVs had not been changed.

Looks like you are sorted which is great news.  I asked about the programming because a lot of issues can be solved and I have been on the receiving end of this in the past, by factory reseting the decoder.  But this is not good if you have made a lot of changes to the programming.

Captain U thanks for your contribution, very useful.

I have found this site to be useful: http://www.dccwiki.com/Configuration_Variable

Glad I was able to help fellow DCC (Doesn't Constantly Control) users.
