Now would those two NR's be numbers 109 and 74?
Those two will bring 4DA8 Ghan from Darwin into APT tomorrow
Also APT shunter PL1 has been rather "unreliable" of late and often whatever loco is available does the honours shunting in place of PL1

8115 would be good power for the Overland.

is there still talk PN may be losing the hook and pull with GSR?

Not sure about the current contract that PN has with GSR. Be great if GWA takes over, won't see NR's on these services anymore if that's the case. 🙂

what would GSR use in their place?

There was much talk about this some six odd months ago when the contract was up for renewal, and guess what ............

Yes, PN are still contracted to haul GSR's trains

Which, I suspect, is part of the reason why PN retained the contract...Razz

GWA only wanted the Ghan Contract, GSR wanted them to take all of the trains. For the time being the service remains with PN but AFAIK no formal contract has been re-signed.

If it were rostered for The Overland as a regular loco it would pretty quickly become the most unreliable engine in the fleet.

"You mean the codriver side windscreen wiper is missing again? *sigh*, take NR97 spare on loco"

This comment has made my morning. I am glad I was sitting down for this revelation!!

Given how seriously this thread is being taken, 8115 has been shunting at AFT during last week as well. Have the 80 class been banished since the little oopsie a little while ago?

sounds to me like you tried to be clever and it failed.

yes 8115 was in adelaide and is now in melbourne.

it is normal for adelaide to melbourne intermodal services to be stabled at Dimboola for a period of time?
  Clyde_AT26HC-2M Chief Train Controller

8046 is stored at the MPC and 8108 was the shunter at the AFT a couple of days back.

Anything in PN's usual colours, grey-yellow, grey-blue, grey-orange and rust brown. Or to put it more simply, anything they still use that hasn't been washed in 6 months.

The 81 actually looks good, so I wouldn't call it mundane.
