Trams wearing the new PT> livery

Since there now seems to be yet another new livery for trams being used in line with a system-wide corporate makeover, I thought it might be interesting to start listing trams that are appearing in the new livery.

Trams wearing the new PT> livery (according to the VicSig rollingstock lists) are:

E.6001
E.6002

Z3.123 - (I spotted this one today on Route 3)
Z3.184
Z3.211
Z3.229

About time too they are finally applying the livery on the rest of the Z3 trams, doubt it they will apply it on the Z1s and Z2's as most likely they are going to be withdrawn soon. Because most of the Z3 trams that have the MK2 or MK3 livery looks faded and horrible and it was long overdue that their livery had to be reapplied.

Apparently E.6005 has now been delivered. I'd assume this is wearing the PT> livery??

Are all trams going to be eventually put into this livery, or is it just trams that remain in the older tattier liveries?

My guess is that every tram that's not going to be retired anytime soon will be getting this livery.

I haven't seen anything to confirm that E.6005 has been delivered so I can't comment, but I assume that if it has then it will be wearing the livery as well.  If a D2 is now wearing the livery then it shouldn't be long until we see the other D2's and D1's beginning to wear it as well.  I'm just wondering what they will do with the C2's since their shell is yellow, not white like the other low floor trams.

I'm aware that Z3 120, 172 and 230 are also in PT livery.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if YT applies the PTV livery to the A, B, C and D classes first that are in MK4 livery, and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't do the Z3's already in MK4 livery, because apparently half of the Z3 fleet is still in MK2 livery and it took them so long just to start reapplying the livery again.

What they need to do is get rid of the stupid bumblebee decals on the sides of the trams. It's ridiculous that you can't see out of any windows except for the cab windscreens, regardless of there being auto announcements or not.

Those decals are pretty faded now, they should just remove and leave the rest of the trams as is.

Do we actually now own them? I never seem to get a definite answer for this. I think the decision to buy has been taken up, dropped and maybe taken up again...

Seems like they were bought: Here

If we now actually own the C2 then they should be repainted into PT> livery. Having a very small number of a class of tram that obviously stands out (Yellow instead of White/Green) they look like the don't belong and second hand. Likewise with the Hitachi, why are they still in Connex livery? (And why were they in Met livery for 8 years after Connex took over?)

It looks tacky and unprofessional.

We just cannot be bothered changing liveries that often, besides the Bumblebees would look ugly in PT>/Yarra Trams livery

Since the Z3 PTV livery has stopped for the moment, it seems they are now applying PTV livery to the Cs and D1s (A bit surprising no D2s have received the livery since 5001 last year)

Here is the current list of trams in PTV livery:
Z3: 120, 123, 126, 131, 139, 144, 159, 161, 163, 167, 172, 173, 174, 178, 185, 198, 199, 211, 212, 223, 225, 229, 230
C: 3003, 3005, 3008, 3012, 3016, 3020, 3025
D1: 3501, 3502, 3503, 3507, 3509, 3511, 3512
D2: 5001
E: 6001, 6002, 6003, 6004, 6005, 6007, 6009, 6010

Have you got a photo? This I would have to see. Nice bright green livery over mucky yellow exterior, or did they paint the exterior white?

I guess they are a bit too important and superior to allow unwashed riff-raff like me to view their photos?

Yes, the ever reliable VicSig has a photo of C2.5123 wearing the new livery at Preston Workshops: http://www.vicsig.net/photo/18468

I'll agree that it is a very smart look for this class of tram. Curious as to how they made it white though - paint or decals? I think the 'Bumblebee' identity was good when they first arrived, but as newer trams got added to the network, the identity was tired. At least this brings it into line with most of the other trams in the fleet. Since there are only 5 C2's, it shouldn't take them that long to refurbish the others.

... and for all this year there have only been 5 E's. WTF has happened to the plan to build 10 times that number? Construction seems to have totally stopped! Sad

Production of the E's has not stopped. Just because we have only really seen six or seven of them on the streets, doesn't mean they are not being delivered. VicSig had a photo of E.6012 on a semi-trailer at Bombardier Dandenong bound for Preston Workshops: http://www.vicsig.net/photo/18439

Fair enough. I live 120 metres from the number 96 tram line and I've never seen one numbered higher than 6005.

So what's happening with the other seven? Conspiracy theorists might postulate that the union may have black banned them from running until after the state election? Wink

They are out there, they just haven't yet entered service. Each tram has to undergo a testing regime out on the network which may take a couple of months, then they are available for revenue service. There is no conspiracy theory.

Back on topic, there is a photo over on Vicsig of C2.5123 in the new PTV livery, not a remnant of the bumblebee left
